Grant-morrison.com frozen in time

it's been more than a year since Grant & Kristan [does she still lurk around here?] have last updated grant-morrison.com, and I miss it. just saying.

I know Morrison probably doesn't need it updated, professionally-speaking. he's got good contacts everywhere and is busy as hell. I recall sometimes the feedback he got was less than satisfatory to gather the energy to keep that going.

also he's - thankfully - not likely to spend enough time online to mantain a blog or even the current site. well, I don't blame him, better having a good offline author than an always-connected but not so great author.

in any case, I miss the intarwub tentacle of gmWORD.

His sort-of-monthly essays were a blast, weren't they? GM's due for an interview sometime soon...

It was always good for a read on coffee breaks, it's a crying shame he doesn't write there anymore. In a similar way to the loss of the letters column from The Invisibles. They were always interesting reading.

Still he's a busy little primate now isn't he, so I can't really complain too hard. Less I wake up with the Spine Riders of the Sheeda hijacking my body for a joyride.

That'll never happen here in Qwewq.

yeah, all the interviews have sort of made up for the lack of essays, they always flex that thinking muscle.

but he went crazier there, so... not quite the same.

I'm still waiting for chapter 3 of Pop Magick! Or in the absence of that, the complete book. Grant is someone I'd love to see doing a blog, even though all his current interviews make it sound like he's working 12 hour days already, and wouldn't have time for it.

Speaking of interviews, did anyone catch the piece on Seven Soldiers in the New York Times Sunday Arts section last week. Not too much new insight from GM himself, but it was pretty awesome to see a Grant comic on the front page of a section that's so widely read.

They could at least update the "upcomign releases" page, the lazy lovebords. Half hours work and spell checking a month, how hard can it be?

Still, GM's a busy chap and we have 7S to make up for the loss of his online digital madness.

the NYT article is linked in the Guardian thread; it's about the reimagined NYC architecture of Seven Soliders.

I heard somewhere that Grant got a book deal for _Pop Magic!_, so we can expect what have seen so far expanded upon and who knows what else.

No idea about when its due, I only hope this pans out, unlike the Invisibles tv and movie deals

(ahh they would have ruined it anyways)

"As for future projects, Morrison delighted his audience with news that his long-awaited novel is finished and in the hands of his agent. "He's the same guy who sold the DaVinci Code," said Morrison. "Hopefully he'll work his magic on this one." And speaking of magic, the similarly long-awaited book "Pop Magic" is nearly done. A comprehensive guide to magic from the physical realm to the highest levels of mysticism, "Pop Magic" will be divided into three sections: Morrison's personal experiences; a how-to section for beginners; and a final section on magic theory."

is the novel that IF thing that there used to be an extract of up on his site? because i went to a special doctor to get the full horror of reading that excerpt chapter scoured from the brain - it was, as the vestigial trace memory informs me, about as bad as something written by him out of zodiac mindwarp who did that book with bill drummond, and him john wells who used to write for the NME and then set himself up as a post-stewart home skinhead trashpulp writer.

!SHITETIHS!

That bit about the publisher/promoter/agent/whatever being the same guy who pushed the DaVinci Code is about 8 months old -- if the guy is so famous and so powerful in the publishing world, why haven't we heard anything more about the novel yet...?

the book market crawls - much like the movie market [only when it's not jumping]; the comic market runs, much like the magazine market.

Yes. George is jnust biding his time for MAXIMUM IMPACT. George is so clever. And such a good writer! And I now officially like him better than Alex, and he likes Alex better than me, because I understand that sometimes, very occasionally, he might like to spend time with.... that woman.

My Georgie-boy has needs. Some I may not understand OR RESPECT, but that's by the by.

What's she got that you haven't? Or that I haven't, for that matter?

We can all buy a pair of knickers from Abercrombie and Fitch and pout on a beach, if that's all he wants.
