Meem does have a nice house, complete with a dvd and cd collection to be violently jealous over. It's a good location and you can get into the city using the DLR quite comfortably.

www.gumtree.com and London Craigslist are good places to check out. I found an ok place with Gumtree when I needed a place quickly, but be prepared to share with antipodeans
