i for one still think it's a splendid bit of coincidence. Bill Posters
That's more interesting to me than the conspiracy theories. There was a training exercise going on the morning of 9/11, and another on 7/7 (unless Peter Powers is lying), both similar enough to the actual attacks to be marked coincidences.
I was discussing this with a colleague yesterday who had an email about the 7/7 exercise (full of conspiracy and a few facts) and remarked what a meta-coincidence it was. She asked me where online I posted about it, so I said 'Barbelith, it's a...' and she interrupted to say she used to post and knew all about it. Quelle coincidence!
Well, having checked the conspiracy theory out, the emails sent round seem to be based on Indymedia, which is blatant nonsense (as pointed out in the thread linked, ta).
Check this rubbish out-
The exercise fulfils several different goals. It acts as a cover for the small compartamentalized government terrorists to carry out their operation without the larger security services becoming aware of what they're doing, and, more importantly, if they get caught during the attack or after with any incriminating evidence they can just claim that they were just taking part in the exercise. Compare the account in the first post with their version of events-
'This is precisely what happened on the morning of 9/11/2001. The CIA was conducting drills of flying hijacked planes into the WTC and Pentagon at 8:30 in the morning.'
No, they weren't. The NRO was going to conduct a drill where a corporate jet experiencing mechanical trouble hit their HQ in Virginia, which they cancelled.
I particularly like the bit on the site where they say This is not speculation. Riiight... |
