Well, it probably does if you have the "moderate safe search" function switched off.

It is off. THAT'S why it's so surprising!

I think everybody is overlooking the greatness that is the dark chocolate caramel digestive biscuit....never was there a better dunker.

Tim-Tams are the ones you can/should drink your tea through aren't they?

tea?! TEA?!! heavens no, chocolate and tea should never mix, should they? tea is for scones (now there's another thread! hands up all the scone makers...) or damper.

tim tams are definitely for coffee... bit off small bits of opposing diagonal corners, then dip into not-too-hot beverage (strong black preferably, but some people...) and suck. when biscuit is filled, place entire snack in mouth (sideways, to avoid the expulsion of crumbly fluid) and delight in the bliss that is a 'tim tam orgasm'

that said, i am a great fan of shortbread. mmmmm.....

Right, time to split the pack...

Fig rolls! Lovely soft, chewy mush, and they're good for you. You know, FRUIT!

Ewww. I quite like the apple ones, but they in no way qualify for best biscuit.

And so it begins.

They're not the best (that's Ginger Nuts) but they are very good.

The great Barbelith Newton schism of 2005 shall be commemorated in song, I think. [Composes in anticipation]

They might be very good Boboss, but they do NOT qualify as a biscuit...definitely a cake.

Oh and I see your ginger nuts *ahem*, and I raise you....Green and Black's Ginger biscuits covered in dark chocolate....pricey but worth it.

Hmm, I suppose you could accuse them of cakiness, perhpas they should be excluded so as not to muddy the waters.

As for luxury, chocolate covered ginger biscuits. I likes 'em (alot), but I think the cost factor undermines their claim to the top spot. Also, they're a bit rich for every day eating.

Link of the week, surely.

Abbey Crunch! I had forgotten about them. I used to get through a pack at a time. Do they still sell them anywhere?

Wow. Loomis wins.

Q. Why are 'Nice' biscuits called that?

A. I don't know because they are possibly one of the nastiest biscuits ever, perhaps its sarcasm. Also if you are new to this site and are about to email me saying "Actually its because they are named after the town in the south of France" don't. They're not from there, nobody there has ever heard of them. Hop on an Easyjet flight get yourself down there and ask around, you'll get even blanker Gallic looks than usual. Back when they were invented Huntley and Palmer were knocking out over 450 sorts of biscuits, so naming new sorts of biscuits was probably a matter of just going through the phone book or index in the atlas. Anyhow I don't like them.

then you're a prick mate.

If anyone tries making the biscuits I posted the recipes for, let me know how they come out.

I'm suddenly wanting pink wafers, for some reason. Must be some regressive childhood thing...

Another one I rediscovered at the weekend (in my own flat, where a packet went bafflingly undiscovered until there were but four) is fruit shortcakes. Does it not, however, subvert the whole 'absolutely no nutritional value/vitamins/minerals these are STRICTLY for fun' Biscuit Principle to put fruit in them? This is perhaps more pertinent in the more significantly fruited case of the Fig Roll.

Noone's mentioned custard creams - I love custard creams. And then there's the ever-fabulous Tunnock's tea cakes!

Ariadne
11:15 / 29.07.05
And no, they're not really cakes. They're just not.

Spaniel

They're definitely not biscuits.

Jesus. Next someone's going to be trying to sell me Wagon Wheels, the most completely repugnant foodstuff since tripe (at least that's naturally occurring).

Ariadne

oooooh, I like wagon wheels! That squidgy cavity-wall insulation syuff in the middle, and the glowing jam. Yum!

Spaniel

Yum, indeed!

Ariadne, you're in danger of becoming my sworn foe in this battle. Can we reconcile our baked good differences over a custard cream, which was my favourite biscuit for years (it made a sterling effort to fill some of those gaping crumpet-chasms...).

Wow, I made the innocent biscuit chat sound pervy. Cool.

Ariadne
11:33 / 29.07.05
Gaping crumpet chasms, oh my.

I think I need a custard cream to recover from that image. Incidentally, do you eat them like a grown up, or do you eat one bit of biscuit and then scrape the cream off with your teeth?

Psych Safeling
11:51 / 29.07.05
I never do anything like a grown up.

Psych Safeling

Apart from grown ups.
