Anyone here play Xenosaga? Is it worth the 50+ hours of play? I have been looking for a new RPG having played all of the Final Fantasy games and now that I am almost finished with Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne(highly recommended)

... whilst not quite the info you requested, I've heard good things about Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call which I assume is the recently released follow-up to the one you're nearly finished ...

I've played both of the new Xenosaga games, and found them pretty enjoyable. Your good old-fashioned space opera. They're really quite different from your standard Final Fantasy type RPGs, though. The first one has a really linear storyline which incorporates some loooong cinematics. Like you can have 5-10 minutes of your characters standing around and chatting between areas. It's more like watching a movie than playing a game sometimes. But if this concept doesn't sound totally annoying right off the bat, the animation and voice work are actually pretty good. I think this may be the only RPG that my wife's actually made it all the way through without getting bored and giving up. There are a number of side-quests and minigames to play, so you can easily spend 50 hours on the game if you're into that sort of thing.

Xenosaga 2 was also fun, but they made some changes that I didn't totally agree with. The game is less linear, but it only has one massive side-quest instead of a bunch of shorter ones. Also, instead of each character having their own special moves, now everyone uses the same set. This one seemed a lot shorter than the first as well.

I would definitely recommend Xenosaga 1, and even though 2 isn't quite as good you'd probably still want to play it since the storyline can be compelling and you want to find out how it goes.
