I'm not gonna lie about it. I love me some FOX News.

CNN is boring and bland, MSNBC is a nonentity, but FOX... FOX is pretty much a direct propaganda arm of the Bush administration. If I'm going to watch hysteria and sloppy journalism, I want to be *really* horrified (and yet strangely fascinated). FOX has a shadowy, terrible agenda, and watching is like getting a glimpse into the heart of darkness, whereas CNN and MSNBC is just a look at mediocrity and meekness.

I am, in fact, watching FOX as we speak, and they are extolling the virtues of racial profiling. Witness their rotating cast of "experts": Fascistic retired military officers, fundamentalist Christians, weaselly Bush administration cronies and Ann Coulter (She's truly horrifying-I make a point of giving her my undivided attention whenever she's on). This is entertainment for anyone with a black sense of humor. They have a show called "War Stories," a vehicle for militaristic propaganda. The host: Oliver fucking North, a terrorist if there ever was one. You can't make this shit up.

Newsflash- there was a bombing in Beirut. The first thing FOX reports is that us folks shouldn't worry, because Condi Rice has already left the area.

Not everyone can stand it (my mother, the classic beatnik artist, can't take it), but if you have a strong stomach and appreciate irony, you have to check it out. This shit is basically the press office for the White House, and you can be entertained and informed on the neocon agenda at the same time.

I gave up on cable news about a year ago, when I realized that they weren't doing news in any way shape or form anymore. They are info-tainment with the delivery style of a local news team with "happy banter" and the like. It's just shocking to see the difference between how US cable news covered the bombings in England and how it was covered by the BBC.

I'm not the only one giving up on cable news. FOX has lost between a third and half of its audience (depending on which article and measurement you go by), CNN has done no better and MSNBC has yet to GET good ratings.

I also think this thread should be in a more serious forum.

Sleazenation started a thread in F,TV&T on the same subject. Perhaps this could be merged with that.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't see that one. I second the merging.
