holy sweet jesus, has anyone seen this? it's got flash, green lantern, fire, ice, the atom and martian manhunter. the premise also seems to involve the superheroes as incredible morons, living in a townhouse in what looks likes hamilton, ontario.

it's also got this bizzare, friends / sitcom vibe, with these documentary style interview scenes, where they basically just goof off.

and martian manhunter is fat.

it dosen't have the faintest whiff of quality to it . . . but it's still somehow affecting.

I've been trying to find a copy for ages. 2 years ago it was on C5 in the UK, and I missed it, but they have never repeated it since. It just sounds so fantastically misguided - they really should have done an animated show of the Giffen DeMattis JLI, but no, someone opted for this.

It's great. Really, you can't understand how great it is unless youhave seen it. Fourth best superhero film of all time, and best DC franchise superhero film EVAR.

SO is there a place where you can get this? PM me if anyone knows. Or is it a case of sending letters to Channel 5 to try and get them to re-show it?

I saw this a few monthes ago.

Highlights:

The Atom performs a heroic rescue of... a cat.
The Flash complaining that his power is totally useless [for making money.]

It's so strange, because this was made years after they made The Flash live-action tv series, which--for all it's faults--was hugely better both in quality and in accomplishing the goal of depicting a superhero as a sort of average joe. But they just ignored any lessons learned from The Flash.

I think the show it most resembled in my mind was The Misfits of Science, but that had a better sense of humor.

I seem to remember the Martian Manhunter make-up as actually being quite good, but he did nothing except sit up on the satellite so he wouldn't need to use his shapechanging powers.

Well, while it's true that we never saw him in his full greenness down on Earth, we did see him "undercover" at the weather center, having taking other people's forms.

I got it off limewire, so you might be able to hunt it down online.

instead of a satelite our JLA hang out in what looks like a rotting whale carcass a the bottom of some river. and i think the martian hangs out there because he's embarassed of the pot belly he's acquired on earth.

the best part of this is the flash, he's this awesome brooklyn-type guy. and while the green lantern is named guy gardner, he looks just like rayner and isn't a huge asshole, unfortunately.

Managed to find a copy and have watched about half of it so far. It's so fantastically misguided. They have made no real attempt to make any of the characters how they actually are in any of the series. There is something charming about it though, likable even.

now that i think about it, this might be the best live-action interpretation of superheroes. everyone tries to make the costumes look cool and practical, but maybe it's better to push the silliness and impracticality in order to truly capture a comic book feel.

maybe the costumes bring me joy just because they're fantastically stupid.

and i can;t help but agree with the above. this movie should make me want to goung out my eyes . . . but i can't help liking it!
