I've just turned on to the First Night, halfway through what I think is Sir Michael Tippett's 'A Child of Our Time' which I'm not that keen on, but then I'm not that keen on singing, prefering music over opera any day.

For the last couple of years I've promised myself I'll try to listen to every night on telly or radio and I never make it, how far will you go?

Damn - got distracted amd missed this, oh well, there's another 70-odd proms of this season to go...

I really enjoyed the first night of the proms last season - mixing much enjoyable Bach and Holst...

I will, of course be in Hyde Park for the last night should anyone care to join me for a picnic...

I'd better get a job so I can afford the last night but I will be there with bells on as usual. Like I'd miss Land of Hope and Glory. Oh noooo.

I caught about two thirds of Child of Our Time, which I really enjoyed. I was a bit disturbed when I noticed an old geography teacher in the BBC chorus.

I'll tune into anything I already love or am interested to hear for the first time.
