How will you be incorporating magic into your Halloween? (I know this sounds utterly retarded but I was, you know, curious.)

I`ll take my yearly trip into the underworld.(using the wonders of trance). Traditionally the borders are down during halloween. Stowing escape equipment and making plans.

Sad but true.

One thing that I do at Dia de los Muertos is really spend some quality time with the ancestors named and not named in my physical area. Get to know them, tell them stories, feed them offerings. A good time for community building with the people who lived and died in the area I now live in.

We're going to be lining our city's central stormwater run-off drain with candles and seeing how many people we can get to come into it.

Er.

I'm going to complain about the weather in Manitoba and bitch that all the sun's warmth is being stolen by the New Zealanders. Which, after a few hours and a couple bottles of wine, would seem more and more magical.

I'm going to be Harry Potter for Halloween. I figured I can sync. with this global thought-form and tap into the massive amounts of magical energy involved with this character. I'm hoping to amp my magic ten fold! At the very least women everywhere will find me horribly cute and will want to just eat me up

I woke up from a dream the other day, with the numer 566 being repeated by someone in my dream...566 ,566 ,566...

So I trawl the internet...

quote: Hebron 566
Tune: Lowell Mason, 1823
Lyrics: Isaac Watts, 1707
Meter: Long Meter (8,8,8,8)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thus far the Lord hath led me on,
Thus far His pow'r prolonged my days;
And ev'ry ev'ning shall make known
Some fresh memorials of His grace.

Much of my time has run to waste,
And I, perhaps, am near my home.
But He forgives my follies past,
And gives me strength for days to come.

I lay my body down to sleep,
Peace is the pillow for my head;
While well-appointed angels keep
Their watchful stations 'round my bed.

You know what I did on Halloween, I went to work, stood behind a bar opening bottles for pissed up people in costumes and told them I wasn't going to serve anyone who didn't sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody or do the dance to Saturday Night by Whigfield. Ha - then some guy heckled me with 'I want a drink so I can go and have fun' - the fucker... why do people assume bar staff don't have lives? So the complete lack of magick in my life on Halloween was more then a bit sad... it was tragic. Damn.

Found out they sealed up one of the best drains in my area. Went out to pop a lid, and there's welds all around the circumference. Same with every lid upstream and downstream from there that we could find.

Bastards.

I think it's finally time to invest $80 in that backpack acetylene torch.

Halloween for me was the party last weekend. It was a "come as your super larger than life self" costume party. Magics were in place so that one's choice of costume actually meant something, and may have to do with the way you turn out for this coming year. Most notably, veves for Baron Ghede and Mammon Bridget were present. It was a smashing success. I went as a Shaolin Shaman (I do spirit animal kung fu ) one night and a half-dragon the next.

The next day I made covenish year-and-a-day dedication for regular group work, ritual practice, and general magical schooling and community service for the local tribe. Our first group ritual was the summoning and pacting with the geomantic guardian dragon spirit of the 3 Rivers of Pittsburgh. This will be an interesting year.

Boy, didn't that all just sound like it came out of a fantasy novel.

Halloween itself, I gawked at the moon and 7 sisters, and handed out candy to frightened children. Perhaps the devil horns were a bit much for someone my height.

My Dad died on Halloween 5 years ago and I went to pay my respects to him and brought a tape recorder which I left on for a half hour after asking any spirits to show up and talk into the mike, but nothing but white noise and some birds.

Hey I'm proud of my costume which I wore Sat night and last night until I ripped it off my face because I was having difficulty with the pizza eating.

Whitby ???

Whitby: Historic British fishing town on the North coast, immortalized in Dracula and now host to the biannual Whitby Gothic Weekend, not to mention various lesser events. The main weekends are in late April and the weekend nearest to Halloween.

They sell the best chips there in the entire known universe.

I put on my good dress shirt and tie, checked that my dress pants were clean, dawned by hat and coat, grabbed my umbrella and tried to stir up some evil... without a malefactor (my assistant in the Great Hunt), alas. Unfortunately, as I expected, I found only some rain and a haze obscuring the full moon. I then amused myself for a few minutes watching pyros get fired down the street.

Later that night I left a message to the spirit world, inviting any spooks who picked it up to have a chat, and sent them a pen and some paper to reply with. Then I wandered around for about an hour.

Isn't that exciting?

Yeah, I know. It isn't. Pfft to you too.

Decided to experiment with a new sigil-charching technique which involved nearly drowning myself in the feckin' bath and then using the gnosis generated by breathing air again to do the charging.

Worked, but I can still taste water in my frickin' nostrils...

just say no, kids.
