Here comes the sun, it's alright...

Card 19- almost finished the Major Arcana. I just want to let you all know what an extreme pleasure this has been colaborating with the contributors on this topic.
The sun is beleived by most to be the most possitive card in the Tarot.
What are your impressions of this card?

PS e still have several unfinished cards...if you want to do one, don't hold back. Thank you

Everybody loves the sunshine.

Promethea has a whole issue dedicated to the sun, and ideas relating to it. HOD I think is one of the names of it. It appears to be associated with knowledge and inspiration. Making connections between ideas, and the excitement that brings.

The sun brings life. The sun is the sign of a summer day. Life is a beach, like a sunburnt dream.

I think of great parties. Dancing in the sun all day. Laughter, silly jokes. Fun. Everything is beautiful on a sunny day.
All the beautiful people come out to play.

Everybody loves the sunshine...

ps. I'd love to do this card, Rex.

Isn't the Sun basically supposed to be about Illumination? Revelation, understanding. Not the actual process of piecing together dissociated knowledge (which might be more the Star), nor the reflexive meditation upon the resulting construct (the Moon), but the very moment the lightbulb lights up. The realisation of the existence of a particular truth. A golden dawn.

Finding connection is revelation. A moment of inspiration can draw things together. The process is inspiration itself.

I found our musings on the star seemed to be more about hope, and mystery. The spark that makes things possible. The sun seems more ripe, the fruit ready to be eaten rather than the buds begining to bloom.

As for meditative reflection of the sun, I find that the images the word sun brings to my mind are mostly of the joy of summer, and the possibilities it brings. Lying in the sun soaking up rays, going to the beach, the radiance of colour under the summer sun. House music and dancing always make me think of the sun and summer. I always think of the song by Full Intention "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" (its a classic house tune).

Maybe this is not the traditional reading of the sun card but its how it makes me feel.

I really dig this little snippet in regards to the Sun card:

"Honor and respect to the night. Outside the city's bright veil, all sleep secure in bed and house. The roads are empty and clear, save for those who walk in darkness. First light breaks, and all begin to stir."

Seek your visions by the stars and the moon. Chop wood, carry water in the light.

Song: "Mountaintop and sunrise/Communion with the Sun" by Utopia (suddenly the stigma of '70s progressive rock sticks to me like a bad smell)

Awww.... I feel good just looking at it.

We really should assign the possitive cards to fool and the darker ones to Kobol and Kegboy eh?
Nice work

Fun. I'll do the star next, if no one else wants to do it first...

Nice, Fool. Its yummy sunny good!

The sun gives light, the sun gives warmth. The sun gives. It gives all day, non stop, to everyone and everything. It radiates love unconditionally. Its touch coaxes life from the Earth. Father Sun and Mother Earth.

Just don't get too much of a good thing, or it will burn you. The problem with giving unconditionally, is that it'll give you all you try to take, and won't check to see if that giving will crisp you to ash first. Don't try to take more than your share of this one, your wings are made of wax.

I notice as well that people are more inclined to post meanings after the card had been created...hmmm.

Pure coincidence on my part, I assure you.

Though I admidt, it certainly does help having a visual aid. Hey, maybe there's something to that

The Barbelith Tarot rocks!! Keep up it -- never doubt how important and educational this fantastic effort it. Keep it going!! Many of us, like myself, are benefitting from it a great deal, and learning a lot about the finer, more subtle nuances of the cards. Thanks!
