What bugs me about the greatness of Lemmy (and his music), is that too many people - for all the time he's been around - have no idea who he is or barely remember the songs. Fuck. He's memorable fellow, certainly, and y'know 'Ace of Spades' to that Probot thing there's a distinctive sound, so what is it?
Does truly hard, loud music - with witty/odd lyrics - just turn people off in droves? Or is it, maybe, just the States and Canada? I know there are people who only like the 'soft' Pixies songs, can't stand Monster Magnet or Guitar Wolf, and I'm probably the only person who thought Lolita Storm or Jack Off Jill entertaining (for about six minutes at a time), but I don't want to believe we live in a world where what was light five years ago, is now considered heavy, where what was emo five years ago is now punk, where weak is now [cue air guitar] RAWK [excellent sustained air guitar solo followed by collapse], or as close to as people are going to stand for.
'Killed by Death' for Crom's sake!
I do believe in ten years there'll be people who find Chicks on Speed and REM too loud/fast/intense/hard. |
