Al fresco shows in summery London

Was out at the theatre seeing Brian Dennehy in Death of Salesman last night, which was excellent, but it was sweltering in the stalls, to the point of discomfort.

I got a flyer for this free open air series of film shows and, on this dog day afternoon, it sounds like a good way to pass an evening.

This unique riverside amphitheatre venue has superb acoustics that, combined with surround sound ... makes it into one of the finest outdoor film venues you will come across in London.

Located a short walk from City Hall, The Scoop will be showing a film every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening until June 24th from its riverside location (check www.morelondon.com for details on both film showings and directions).

Screenings start between 9.30pm and 10.00pm and are absolutely free – there’s no need to book either, just make sure you have arrived and taken a seat by 9.15pm.

...wide selection of films like Easy Rider, The Motorcycle Diaries, Moulin Rouge! and Dr. No being screened in the outdoor cinema there’s bound to be something for everyone.

Made me aware that events of this nature are bursting out all over in London, when it sizzles... I thought you well-informed coves might wish to share your knowledge of same.

I think it's slightly absurd that they're only showing films in June. I would have liked to see the Motorcycle Diaries but unfortunately it's been shown already. Ah, well...
