Chi gung

Unconditional Love

I have recently started work with breathing various coloured mists for the respective body organs, and various standing, sitting and laying meditations from a variety of chi kung exercises, some based from bagua and tai chi, others more medical in nature and some with a spiritual focus.

i am beginning to get a greater awareness of my body and its various tensions and gain a conscious recognition of my internal organs as i move my awareness across and within them while breathing, this also brings about mental associations that i have made with the various areas of my body.

i have also started work with some healing sounds recieved from a dream sometime ago, given by a taoist trickster. what i am finding is they create a very cool feeling in the body, clearing both nostrils for breath work and energising me, the icey feeling worried me at first but was explained by a chi gung text as transitory that often could point to internalisation in practice, ie a closing down of the senses perhaps nessecary, to rest and relax them. i am wondering if anybody else has experienced this cool icey feeling in any kind of body work, i am used to heat and tingling from sitting meditation but not so used to this cool sensation.

any feedback on chi gung in general would be very appreciated.

Hot cold tingly...all that is Jing energy. THe mind moves the Chi. The ice feeling is the yin sexual energy. Go to http://www.universal-tao.com and read all about it. I hope you have about seventy years to spare.

Usually when I feel cold it's my body starting to work through a blockage. But that's icy cold in a particular area, and you can usually tell from the area and your knowledge of meridians where the blockage is, so it's possible to speed things along a little either by yourself or with the help of someone who does external chi gung.

Yin energy usually heals and restores. I don't really think it is so much a blockage issue as it is more difficult to circulate then the other types of energy. The cold energy is thick and slow. Being able to focus your mind on the movement is difficult. Also if you ejeculate at all that will hinder this process. Sperm naturally in it's cool state is yin. In the begining your balls will easily get ice cold and the sense of it will get very real. Don't push it with the breath you have to really try to relax and coax it with your mind. You also can do some other meditations that will help, but I've found it takes a few months to get it really going.

If you thought that was a joke (it does sound really stupid reading it back.) it wasn't. Now back to thinking about my cold balls.

If you are intersted, the YMAA has some truly excellent publications on qigong. If there is a YMAA location nearby I highly recommend checking it out.
