Job Interview Magick?

I'm in desperate need of a new job, and have an interview for a GREAT position (which honestly, I'm a tad underqualified for) at an INCREDIBLY COOL company tomorrow. Anything I can do to tip the scales?

In my experience, good things only come in this life once you've given up all hope of them possibly happening so, y'know, do that. Optimism, positivity, that kind of thing - these are enemies to be feared.

Paperwork. I've done this in the past to secure shifts for myself (I'm on-call, so I never know if I'll get any or not). Back then I simply filled out a few of the worksheets with the right dates and names and then placed them under my pillow.
So, write a fake, formal letter explaining that you got the job, sign it with the name of the interviewer, and mail it to yourself.
Can't hurt.

What Uncle Alex had to say chides with something I've noticed in relationships generally...the Universe hates a vacuum, which is why desperation is such a turn off. If you want, say, to meet the girl/boy of your dreams, it often seems to happen when the internal state of desiring that result has vanished completely. By creating a perfect girl/boy vacuum, you open the only possible state of affairs in which such a meeting can occur.

Great power in negotiation comes from not giving a flying fuck about the result one way or the other. The moment you have a position to defend / result to pursue you are, by definition, weak.

On the question of positive thinking and good luck, you might want to read what Richard Wiseman has to say on the matter.

You're probably better qualified than you think.

What's your CV like? Do you understand what you have to offer these people? Can you express it in bullet points that you can count off your fingers? How well do you understand what they want from the candidate? Bear in mind that, regardless of how things like from your side of the fence, there's a skills shortage right now. Arrogance is a no-no, but you might benefit from being able to express to yourself, rationally, why what you have to offer will benefit them. Be able to articulate how it will benefit you, too, i.e. why you would be enthusiastic and willing to make a commitment to the job -- trust me, this can cover a multitude of sins.

Personally I'd be wary of doing too much magic to get a job, simply because I've done it, I'm shit hot at it, and I'm entirely able to get myself a job that will do me no good whatsoever!

Oh man, I begged magic forum for help a few years back when looking for a job, and a few people did their mojo and I ended up getting a plum job! So maybe I can try to send that vibe your way and hopefully it'll help out! Good luck, I believe in you!

Yeah, but now you're getting made homeless. Should've read the small print, Denfeld...

It seems like, from that interesting link on luck and how to cultivate it, that one must find a balance between not giving a crap about results and also thinking positively and expecting good things to happen.

Hell, I need a plum job (and soon) I've done sigils and spells and can't seem to land one. I mean, it's obvious that I'm lusting too much, but only because the need is increasing.

So how did the interview go, modlad?

It went...alright. "not thrilling, but nice" It actually might have gone better than I think it did, but I just had a bit of trouble "reading" the two people who interviewed me.

We shall see...
