It's been ages since I've brought up Zebra Magazine, but I've just started to upload short fiction to the site.
(For those of you who don't recall Zebra is an online sci-fi anthology with contributers usually from conventions that I attend but also from online sources, such as barbelith. Some projects are for the web only while others are for print. The best of the year will be included in a deluxe annual with contributers copies going to creators whose work is included. Our online comic Kobuta by Lithers John Myers and Alex Hernandez got a lot of attention and remains one of the big pulls for the site)
My goal is to upload short stories along with illustrations of two-three key points in the narrative, kind of like a storybook.
Now before you send in short stories (but go on and do it) let me explain a few things. All submissions should be under 8 pages (12 point double-spaced) and be a complete teaser-free tale. The kind of sci-fi I'm looking for is suspense-ful Outer Limits-type stuff, but I'm always happy to look at work that might make me change my mind. And if you could get an artist to work with that makes everything so much easier.
I've gotten quite a few positive responses from the board and I look forward to more, so please go to my site Zebra and have a look.
Oh and if you've not been before, I am looking for comics submissions as well. Just make sure to look at the work already up to get an idea of what is appropriate. |
