AND,
Stoke Fest is on Sunday 12th of June from 12-6 in Clissold Park N16. Some of you will recall this great music and flesh filled truly local festival with which we welcomed Mono into the folds of London two years back. It's a lovely day out and if you do come, find my shop's stall, BEAUCATCHER, where we'll be foolishly pastiching our real lives. Do say hello.

May be able to make this. Will depend on how our cat Lily is. At present, it looks like she might not last the day. Which means Jack will be all play and no work at the weekend, but also means that Jack will be emotionally fucked and slightly dangerous to be around. Aren't you lucky.

Ah shit, Jack, that's horrible. Having said that, you did a bloody good job of cheering me up last time I was in a similar situation, so 'twould be nothing to attempt to repay the favour. (I shall be present on both days, as it happens).

She passed on at half five this morning, lying in my lap. Seemed peaceful.

Undecided about this weekend - will consider and get back to people... thanks for your thoughts, Stoatman and Lilly...

Sad to hear about your cat Jack... that is the way any of us would prefer to go, I hope, with love and affection close to hand.

My sympathy JTB. My cat isn't even mine really, and she only barely tolerates me when she bored, lonely or hungry, but I know I'll miss her more than I anticipate when she goes (she's moving out, not ill, thank goodness).

Re Stokiefest though - if you pop into The Others at some point, watchful punters will be able to enjoy the comedy flavours of Beauty and the Bitch (Orr and self) performing as part of Cabaret Sauvignon - do say hi if you see us, and I will make a beeline for your stall, Lilly.

Okay, I am definitely going to Stokiefest on Sunday, now. Just got the following in an email:

"NIGEL BURCH AND THE FLEA-PIT ORCHESTRA

(onstage 4pm approx)

@HANGDOG LIVE MUSIC STAGE

STOKE FEST 'O5

CLISSOLD PARK

STOKE NEWINGTON N16

SUNDAY 12th JUNE 12-7pm

FREE!!!!!

First up, Marseille Figs - An accordian and sax driven trio from paris, berlin and london playing punky folk, followed by Spin Master Plant Pot - the small man with no heart who does accopella, love him or hate him he's on for 5 min's, then - The Rebel, who is Ben From the Country Teasers. He's joined by his  yep, wife Sophie (I think thats her name). After a lot of thought I've decided I like bens stuff as the Rebel more than the teasers stuff - It's cruder! Then another 5 min's of Plant Pot - then the fantastic 'phets damnation blues of Gin Palace (remember them - the one you like to watch with your grandmother) - them all the way from Sweden, like they would be from anywhere else, The Make Outs, then it's The Buckets - featuring Eric from the Ulcers, The Professor from The Dirty Water Club and Bruce Brand - who is in too many bands to list here, but include Holly Golightly and ex-Thee Headcoats. Nigel Burch and the Fleapit Orchestra  do the next bit - and who if you don't  know about already ... voodoo rhythm records muscle their way in to the second from last position with Hip-bone Slim and the Kneetremblers and, almost obviously, the day finishes with stoke newingtons finest surfers The Bikini Beach Band. ..."

I've known Spinmaster Plant Pot for ten years -- he's "an a capella punk rock poet", but I've never been to one of his gigs yet.... And there are quite a few other bands I want to see, as well. Hope it doesn't rain!

(And I'm coming on Friday, too)

Me fucked now. Of all the times I've seen Mr Conn, I don't thing he's ever quite ROCKED that much before. Very very good indeed.

Thanks to Anna and for coming out to both events and of course eternal thanks for everything always to Stoatie. Personal aside to Whiskey- so sorry I missed you at our tent but really I do exist somehow, and I bet you do to. I also especially enjoyed the suprise visit from Hattie's Kitchen who was flanked on all sides by awfully nice girls, as you would expect.
The Drones Club and Stoke Fest were both some of the best fun I've had in aeons and all because of the people. The people I say. Bobby Conn and crew did rock splendidly as did Morning Bride despite bass meltdowns and The Owls were pure gypsy genius. Luke is such a star. I think the world should always be more fun actually. We'd all be happier and it is so simple...
