The first of Duckie's triptych of all-round wonderfulness (the others being Bowie in August and Bush in October), this is billed as a tribute to Mozza and his influences, a night of dancing, cabaret and all manner of interactive grooviness, held at the Coronet, "next to Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre & Tube, London, SE1".

Anyone who came along to the Amy Lame-hosted Gay Shame last year will have a fair idea of what's up for grabs this time - but Moz-scented!

Will you won't you will you won't you will you join the dance?

I don't think I can make short-notice plans fer the Moz/Bowie spectribulars but the Bush one? October? Mrrrmmm. Very maybe. If yer'll have me.

Okay. Me and Tangent* are definitely coming to this, but we can't work out how to get tickets (the website suggests we have to go to the Retro Bar in person). Are any of you London-based 'lithers going to get tickets in advance, and could you (in principle) get two for us? I could pay you back through Paypal, or just in cash on the night if you trusted me, or you could reserve two tickets for us and we could pick them up and pay on the door if they let you do that. Anyway, PM me if you can help.

And does anyone have any advice about what I should wear? I own no Smiths/Morrissey t-shirts and don't have a quiff, so I think the Moz-a-like option is closed to me...

*I persistently refer to Splendid Girlfriend as Tangent in case any of you have fond memories of the one time she posted here...

We'll get you a pair of tickets, Deva, and you can pay us on the night.

As for what to wear, I'd suggest carrying a gladiolus but I suspect they'll be handing them out at the door. There's bound to be a fair few Mozzalikes, but just as many bog-standard jeans-and-t-shirt types, with Ms Lame resplendent in '50s girlychic as per usual.

I am now in the South, running round visiting people and places like that Chicks on Speed song, so my net access is a bit erratic - where/when are we meeting up? I was about to say "or shall we just see each other there" when it occurred to me that (a) I won't have a ticket till I've seen Ganesh, and (b)I don't know what Ganesh and Xoc look like...

Anyway. I don't know the area well at all, so someone nominate a meeting-place/time and I will just turn up, clutching Tangent, my A-Z and a (possibly imaginary) gladiolus.

We'll likely pop into the Retro Bar sometime this week and buy tickets (gives us a good excuse). Meeting up beforehand would be a good plan, but I don't know that area well; maybe a more locally clued-up Barbeloid could advise on nice pubs in the vicinity?

Will PM you my mobile number anyway, Deva, in case we miss each other. Worst case scenario, I can meet you at the door.

There are no nice pubs in the Elephant and Castle Area. A better bet would be to meet up somewhere around Charing Cross/Waterloo and take the Bakerloo line down. Royal Festival Hall/National Film Theatre Café?

Ganesh

Mmm, could do.

There is a little hotel pub called the wellington directly across from Waterloo tube station which might be a convenient place to meet and very easy to find. Though the NFT is slightly more pleasant.

What do ya think?

I dunno. I like the Soouth Bank. It's pretty, and full of books...

I do too, but I'm all for checking out new places...

Well let's do South Bank then - it is nicer and the Wellington isn't very nice, it's just easy to find..

Got your tickets today, Deva. Apparently they've been selling well in the Retro Bar, which bodes well for Friday. Think we might go for lilies rather than gladioli...

Sure. Will you be wearing your plushy suit?

He'll be awfully hot if he does... I did Gay Shame in a three-piece suit last time round, and that was a bit close...

So, National Film theatre cafe, outside if the weather's nice... when?

i think i might have to opt out of the bear suite for this one. will try to get a tickets tonight if there are any left.

Ganesh
10:33 / 09.06.05
I imagine there'll be tickets left. The Coronet's got capacity for 2000, approximately ten times the average weekly Duckie intake, so I'll be surprised if they come close to filling it.

any idea if there'll be tickets on the door? also how will i spot you guys inside?

Cherielabombe

What's a plush suite?

Just teasing!! Yeah if the coronet has 2000 people capacity sure there'll be tix left.

So, what time shall we meet then? 7ish sound good?

Ganesh
19:39 / 09.06.05
7's a bit early. Doors open at 9, but there's loooads of time before the cabaret starts (and some of us are a bit shit at pacing our drinking).

How about 8, 8.30? Xoc's for going even later, but I reckon 8 at the National Film Theatre cafe/pub is a nice compromise...

ONLY NICE THINGS

8 sounds fine - if anyone wants to meet a bit earlier, PM the others and we can gather mobile numbers...

Ganesh

I'll be wearing blue velvet jacket and lighter blue You Are The Quarry t-shirt.
