Some samples of my latest zines (and an old, old comic)

Hiya. I just uploaded some sample pages from two new zines, What Astronauts Wear (a cut n paste doover with notebook scribblings and a true story about a philosophically questionable game of The Sims) and Turtle Soup (a short story about a young man, a turtle, unfair imprisonment and taking the wider view).

I've also put up sample pages from my very first self-published comic, The Amazing Atavistic Adventures of The Fish - a story about a humanoid fish, bushrangers and radioactive spiders.

You can looky-look at them here.

cheers

Turtle Soup has a quiet nostalgia to it. Not that it reminds me of something else, instead that it conveys that feeling. Love the layout opposite the line drawings. If you ever make an album, take six of those pages, put them out of order, and you could have the perfect CD booklet out of it too.

Thanks, Topper. I was going for a kind of children's story narrative voice, so I'm glad it came across.

These are great, M. Shame I don't have an A4 browser to look at them with! I like the way you vary the ammount/ratio of information on each page, like how on one page it'll be full, the next it might be more sparse.

Cheers, Rex. Would I seem dumb if I asked you to elaborate on what you mean? Which pages are you talking about with the full/sparse ratio thing?

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I'd bump up this one - I've put two new issues of my zine JUTCHY YA YA up online, they can be viewed right here.

Anyone who sends something interesting in the mail to me (PM me for details) gets one sent to them. While the print run lasts - 100 per issue, no reprints.

cheers,

m.
