I have yet to send mine, so anyone who is still waiting, do not worry, maybe it is mine you are waiting for, and I will send it soon.

Odd thing -- as it turns out, my stepdaughter abruptly decided to move away from town for the summer to wait tables in Ocean City, Maryland... same town I got the postcard from.

Even odder, when I said, Oh, I just got a card from a stranger from Ocean City, she said, "Oh, neat!" and then when I showed her the card, she had the same reaction I did. "Oh. What is that, a sun rise?"

Apparently, there's a bar there that's all floating. You go in your bathing suit. Waitresses use rafts for the drinks.

What happens if you stick a stamp on a Polaroid and put an address on the back? I was just wondering.

I think it goes through fine. You can send all sorts of things through the mail, but there are some size & weight restrictions on what can be posted with stamps (as opposed to taken into a post office and metered). New safety rules making everything dull as always.

I have yet to send mine too. So more than one person is waiting. That's good.

I'm ready to send a second set. Do I just crank them out to the same addresses I have already? Or petition for new ones?

I can send out a new round of addresses, sure. I'll do that from home (currently at the office). someone new expressed interest earlier, so I'll get them in again.

I've sent mine! That was fun. Now can I do another?

Lucky me, got another wonderful handmade card. The scan doesn't really show the texture, and how this has been made of layered tickets, photos from brochures (?) and bits of maps.

Persian dude 1: "Look, dude, I just totally scored this round thing."

Persian dude 2: "But the halvah? Did you forget to buy the halvah?"

For joy! Another wonderful card arrives from a mysterious land -- bearing bit of books, lacy leaves:

Can I have another address now please?

Sorry for lateness- mine is being worked on AS WE SPEAK (well, not literally, but it's part done) and will be in the post in the next couple of days. So fear not, mystery recipient, you are not forgotten.

Did anyone get mine yet? I sent it a couple of weeks ago to somewhere in California but it had a bit of leather stapled to it and I'm afeared it might have been impounded by US Customs ...

I'll have another address too, please... or should we start a new thread to let others in?

bitchiekittie
12:26 / 16.06.05
I'd hate to pollute the conversation with multiple threads - I guess we can say that the second round is open for folks who have not done so already to offer their info.

I think I want to reiterate, though, that the postcards should be either a) entirely original or b) an existing postcard that is altered in some way beyond writing + postage. a plain postcard can be fun on its own, but I think we can be a little more creative than that!

additionally, please don't participate if you don't think you can find the time to work on and send a postcard within about a month's time, which I think is reasonable for even those of us with the busiest of schedules.

finally, if anyone from the first round has not received their postcards, let me know, and I'll shake up your sender or find you a new one.

Cool, I'm sure I can do that.

*cue the worrying about whether the postcard will be mocked* Only teasing!

I'm up for sending another one -- though I never found out if my first one arrived in Baltimore or not...

I would like to mention that the cards I sent, while not having anything obviously glued-on, were completely custom, and loving scanned from my notebooks, printed out, and glued together with my own two sweaty hands.

I too can feel righteous because I drew mine.

Shit though I may be (and yes, I'm soooory!), I did actually send mine today. (And I have another almost ready for next time, cos I thought my method wouldn't work first time, so prepped two, different though similar, just in case...)

Feck. I haven't scanned mine and I got it ages ago. I'll do it now. Most humble apologies.

*bump* Anymore been scanned?

mondo a-go-go

I am unable to get my scanner and iBook to communicate, so, no.

Postcard I got had a picture of Screech from Saved By the Bell holding Mr Potato Head, stuck on some yellow card and laminated with extra wide sellotape. Then a speech bubble drawn on with the words, "Jinx! Buy me a cola"

The one I sent was abstracty and shiny and colourful and painted with different shades of nail polish...
