I think it's clear what you mean when you use the terms boys and men. I don't find it offensive because that is not how it was meant, but I would prefer different words, maybe dandies and jocks? Anyway, that's more of a Headshop discussion.

I'm not sure if there is an upper age limit on men in nail varnish as such. I think Bowie could still get away with it. As for myself I imagine that I will have to give up the nail varnish 24/7 for job reasons. At the moment I just have a basic IT assistance role but when I get into the position where I need to manage people or meet clients I guess I'll have to confine it to weekends.

The same kind of thing goes for an upper weight limit. To name another famous person, I could see Richard Griffiths sporting coloured nails. I think it's more about an overall look. If your look is polished and constructed then I think nail varnish can work. If the look is more rough and ready then nail varnish would probably be a mistake.

when i was into henna i painted my toenails. what the hell just making use of the leftovers from the batch. bad idea. turned them a dull muddy orange-red. then the several months it took for the nails to grow out. i think people though i had a foot fungus or something. in hindsight i wonder why i didn't paint over them.

For absolutely no defensible reason, I dislike nail polish on men and some women. I have no tolerance for long nails on men, nor for long toenails on anybody. I am probably backward and don't mean to promote my primitive views.

Long nails on men make them look like imitation Tolkien elves. It disturbs me.

Neatly trimmed long nails look like elves. Unkempt nails are just gross. I'm ashamed to admit I let mine get long on occasion, but I always end up chewing them off, so that's good, right?

i've only got eight nails - a bit of an accident with a winch lopped off the left middle and index top joints... actually, many acquaintances know me for months or years without ever noticing, soooooo....

...would painted nails draw too much attention to this defecit? what colours work best for hiding this, d'ya think?

advice?
