Petition for PROMETHEA Absolute Edition!

So me (Mark) & my new online co-conspirator Guido have got an online petition up in regards to encouraging DC/Wildstorm to do an Absolute Edition of PROMETHEA sooner rather than (years) later.

Please sign up & check out all the cool links we have put up there. Also, give some feedback here (any chat about the series, the creators, the formats, magick, tarot, etc) so we can keep the post at the top of the page for a few days: we’re hoping to reach as many PROMETHEA readers as possible!

Feel free to repost this message & link hither & yon.

Here is the link:

Fanboy Rampage (Graeme) said maybe he'll run the link. We're plotting out next fusillade as we speak. Err, type...

What we need to be campaigning for is ULTIMATE PROMETHEA, an edgy reworking of Promethea written by Mark Millar and drawn by Andy Kubert. Promethea will be a trooubled teen whose powers are manifested as a stress reaction to being ABUSED.

I commend your enthusiasm, but "Hey! Post anything you want to here to keep this thread at the top of Comic Books" is not polite, because it means that other threads created and contributed to by people who are not so keen will get pushed down. If you want to talk about the petition, post here, but remember that Barbelith is a large number of people, not a potential audience of purchasers/signatories.

Point taken. Just wanted to encourage a wee bit of discussion (or witty parodies) for a day or so, so any interested fans can see the link. I usually don't go to the second page of the threads because the 1st page is energetic enough.

And I shudder to think what Millar would do to poor Sophie. Add in Ellis as co-writer and you're in for one unholy experience...

On the Alan Moore Yahoo list, when this came up, the DC editor on the list said it's possible, but a few years away.

I would think that the first thing that would make DC consider a Big Expensive package would be good sales on the books, which they haven't gotten so far.

If the books' sales were not good, I'm sure they would not even be considering an absolute edition. Plus, most Moore's stuff seems to sell very well on a long term basis. Watchmen has been in continuous print for ages, and Swamp Thing is currently all in print. In fact, you can now buy almost every major AM work save Marvelman and Brought to Light, and that's due to wrangling tied in part to Eclipse's desmise.

If the book had a circulation of 12,000, and the petition could reach, say 8-9% of the readers, then I think that this might motivate DC to get it into print while the iron is relatively hot.

Please let me know if you have problems connecting to the iPetition site, so we can deal with them via the company's slghtly spotty tech support process...
