A sigel is a single mark or name which represents a complex idea, set of ideas, or desires. It is a single point of reference to contain all that it represents. In casting, the sigel is energized and then forgotten, or otherwise destroyed (usually).
The body and physical existance of a human is a single reference for them. A person contains a great number of ideas, wishes, and information, and may even identify with some of those ideas very strongly, even coming to represent them. A person in this sense then, is a sigel.
This sigel is energized by living, by the activities of the person, by the energies they manage to contain and build within. When a person meets a physical death, this energy is released. Are they not in some form then, cast? The pattern seems to fit the same magickal model.
The musing on this then which I bring to this forum, is what magickal effects are had from the casting of one through death? What possibilities does this suggest, especially through the passing of powerful persons embodying ideals to a high degree? |
