Right you-all, watching my self-spawning shoe collection spill across the floor of my room has inspired me to look again at the shoes I own and wonder why I don't wear some of my favourites more often (apart from my obvious inability to stay upright on some of them).

So what's your favourite pair of shoes, and why? Please feel free to post pix - if I can find any that remotely resemble my shoes, be damn sure that I will.

Favourite glam pair:
Description: Gold Gina stiletto sandals with a little leather twist at the front. Vertiginous, sexy, almost impossible to walk on.
Price: ... and £3 in a charity shop. Welcome to my world of cheap.
Vintage: New to me a year ago.

Favourite cute pair:
Petrol blue nubuck? (like suede but not furry) Ferragamo lace-up flatties. One has a hole in the sole but I still love this pair because they make my feet look tiny and adorable, like baby wombats. Sort of.
Price: Also cheap. Maybe even really cheap, like £1, from some charity shop in Shepherd's Bush? It's all coming back to me ...
Vintage: 4 years old, still not shredded. Quite.

Favourite everyday pair:
Brown suede strappy flat Ugg type boots. Nothing can kill them or their comfiness! Go with everything.
Price: £6 from my usual retailers, Oxfam.
Vintage: 6 months.

Favourite casual-sexy pair:
Description: Milk chocolate brown (heavy on the milk) Adidas Taekwondo trainers with baby blue detail. Go with everything.
Price: 28 doubloombs
Vintage: Eight months?

Work, casual going-out pair:
Description: Black leather Ikon Bridge slip-ons (for early morning dashes to the bus stop)
Price: 35 doublooms
Vintage: Nearly two years (eek). The heel is starting to look worn down but I'm not walking funny because of it (I do that already).

Favourite bought on a whim pair:
Description: Red Converse trainers (the non-boot ones). Bought because I just wanted somethin new to wear on a Saturday night. Ahh! Excess!
Price: 29 Orlando Blooms
Vintage: Two months

I don't have any shoes that I love. I have awful cheap falling apart shoes because I have no money and because for my for work I wear beat-up old sneakers that get covered in paint (so nice boats are a luxury item only). Well, I have one pair of Kangaroos sneakers that are pretty cool, but they're nothing lustworthy.

That doesn't mean I don't admire a pretty shoe, though. I was so happy that round-toed pumps were in this year. I hope they never go out. Wouldn't mind sporting these -

My shoe collection is in an awful state. Before I moved to London, I used to wear all sorts of beautiful shoes but I lived in Los Angeles and never had to walk far unless there wasn't a parking space near the door of wherever I was going. When I moved here, I found I spent a lot of time twisting ankles and almost falling down in public. Was the island moving under me? noooo! The sidewalks(pavements) were just all uneven and cracked and in bad repair generally. Hence I started wearing more comfortable, practicle and just plain ugly shoes. I see shoes I like all the time, usually on the upturned feet of some sprawled woman who's fallen off the back of a routemaster. Why can't the city of London make their walkways more sexy shoe friendly? ooooo.

My favourite daily shoes at present are black chunky mary janes from Vegetarian Shoe Store with fake Dr.Martin soles.(Dr.Martin moved their factories to off shore China so won't supply little stores anymore). These shoes work for work and don't look that bad with long skirts either. But Oh! for a pair of round toed pumps as Ibis mentions. And a clearspace to walk in them!

My favourite shoes are a pair of trainers that I've talked about here before. They were designed for Adidas by Yamamoto and are made of Parayan silk. They are red with yellow leather around the lace area and a yellow split tongue. Small green and yellow flowers are embroidered on to them. Sometimes they hurt because my feet are totally flat, I have no arch.

Just because they're flat doesn't mean they can't be beautiful.

I also own a pair of blue suede mid-heel ankle boots, they zip up on the inner ankle. I them wear rarely but with passion.

My most comfortable shoes are a pair of buffalos with the classic platform sole. They have major ankle support and the arch inside is high enough to make my feet a bit more normal but not high enough to rub. They have closed the buffalo shop. I am worried.

NIna said: "Sometimes they hurt because my feet are totally flat, I have no arch."

I have been noticing more and more that women's feet are getting flatter, and I reckon it's because the only shoes that offer decent foot support -- espesh for women -- are ugly. If it's a choice between beautiful footwear or practical footwear, most people are going to go for the one that is pleasing to the eye. Which is probably why I pretty much live in my trainers, and all my trainers are several years old, because the ones they have on sale these days are ugly as sin.

If you don't believe me about the flat feet, take a look at the next woman you see shuffling along in an Uggly boot, and see how her feet are sliding aside from the surface of the sol, because they offer no support for the foot. The same thing with those ballerina style pumps (which I like, but can't wear because they fall off).

I really want a pair of sandals that don't have a heel, that have proper thick straps that support my weak ankles and look pretty. Can't have 'em, though, cos they don't exist.

Yes they do Nina! They are called Birkenstocks. Wait...you said pretty. Nevermind.

I don't do shoes very well. I wear boots most of the time, even in summer. I wear platform stilettos for work, much like this...

Or sometimes just a knee-high platform stiletto boot for work. Definatelty a knee-high stiletto for going out though, much like this one...

I have a favourite pair of boots that are old and worn, I use instead of trainers. (I really should get trainers.) These are them...

Heh. I think we're used to people getting us confused, even though we no longer share the same name.

Birks are okay, not very pretty and incredibly overpriced, though.

I should like to see a picture of your lovely trainers, Nina.

This thread tempts me to go and take a photo of some of my shoes.

You know those images that when you look one way it's one thing, and when you look another way it's something else? I have a pair of Kitten heels with open toes that have butterflies on made out of that material, and the butterflies flap their wings. They're very girly, but spectacularly ace.

I used to keep my shoes in boxes with a picture on the front of the box so that I knew what was inside, but then I moved house and had to store them all under the bed in some of those pull-out shoe tray things.

I think I have about 40 pairs of shoes.

I am aware that this is Too Many.

God I dream of being that organized! We've just moved and I can't find most of my shoes!
Pictures on boxes? I think you deserve to have 40 pairs!

That's like, my dream.

I have been collecting shoe boxes so my fifty-odd pairs don't get squashed, but the problem with boxes - although eminently stackable - is that you can't see what's in them. Hence you have to catalogue and photograph your shoes (a la a museum curator) or buy expensive transparent boxes from Muji.

Dilemma, see?

UPDATE: New favourite pair (which I am wearing tonight with skinny jeans) are petrol-blue round-toed high heels from FaithSolo, with hot pink velvet ribbons on the front and hot pink trim.

Transparent boxes! Of course! Muji, I'm on my way.

I have a date with the Swear shop in Camden market's arches tomorrow. It's closing, it's cheap.

They're groovy.

Help me, shoe people.

I saw a woman wearing a pair of shoes that I thought were beautiful and so I asked her where she got them. She wouldn't tell me! She said, "I am the only person allowed to have these shoes." She is clearly not a true shoe person. True shoe people tell.

So anyway, now I have to find them myself. They were bright red, polka dot (quite big dots,) with a high straight heel (not stilletto or thin), really round toes with a tiny platfom which was covered with the red dotty leather. See Ibis's shoes upthread in the pale green? Sort of that shape. They looked like Minnie Mouse shoes.

Help me find them?

A bit like this but wider heel. And obviously red polka dot, not Bette Lynch.

And maybe a bit rounder. So not so much like that. But helpful picture, no?

Also please pardon me if this is a wrong way to use this thread...

But I'm giving a way to a good home a pair of size 10 of the below worn exactly twice.
Have a slight scuff from when I pitched ass over teakettle.

PM if you want 'em.

Thank EL. I think you can get them online if you wants 'em. They're wedges more than flip flops I'm told. But...

The bat shoes have been claimed.

And, two years after promising myself I'd get some transparent shoe boxes, they are finally winging their way to me in the post.

I am unfeasibly excited. I believe that, as I now have several more pairs of high heels including yellow and blue AND CLEAR PERSPEX!!11! I will display them in rainbow order, possibly on a shelf. Like art.
