Okay, from this thread in Policy, and also because I’ve been dying for an excuse to start a thread using this title....

So. This thread is for posting a link whenever you’re buying STUFF from Amazon. Just like this page says you can. Because if you click the link, and then buy your stuff, apparently then Real Money goes to Barbelith, or something. And meanwhile, we’ll all cluck and tut and squee and oooh, depending on what you’re getting.

Share, come share! And help make online shopping more of a social thing! Shop, and the lith shops with you! etc

Could Sax possibly sink even lower and exhort people to buy his book via this link, thus helping the greater good as well as helping him to assemble enough beer money to get through the summer?

Yes. Yes he could.

(Have you started third person referencing since being published? - I tried to maintain third-person-speak for a weekend once, but failed miserably)

Perhaps it's worth pasting the instructions in the thread, to make things even easier.

So,
If you link to a book on Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com on the board then you could be helping support the board's running costs.

If this is the link of the book you found on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0747563209/ref=ed_best...etc

then first thing you do is strip the URL down to the ASIN number (the number after /ASIN/ ) like so:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0747563209/

You then place a code after that number that reflects the name of the account at that Amazon.

Amazon.co.uk: invisithebomb
Amazon.com: noahwylemanorani

So in the example above - which is an Amazon.co.uk link, the finished URL would look like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0747563209/invisithebomb

So, first up...

May I please suggest people support their local bookshop.

My local bookshops are WHSmiths and Waterstones. Not entirely sure what the difference is between buying from Amazon and buying from them, to be honest.

Let me know if I did it right.
