Strange people. Why? Must you dress in black and wear black make up? Must you walk around scaring small children? Seems like these people have taken a few books about evil a bit too far....

Why does my neck hurt?

Dunno how you figure out people's dress sense from plain text posts.

hey, are you psychic?

Dude... Like, no fucking head banger worth his weight is gonna wear any sort of goddamn fucking makeup. Fucking glam metal shitheads might but they're just too fucking busy listening to 'Every Rose has its Thorn' or some bullshit like that.

Fucking poesers.

Scaring little children? What the fuck are you talking about dude? I don't hang around little kids, except for my girlfriends little dude and his friends. They're pretty fucking cool though. They dig old school Metallica.
</california metal accent>

And to quote Ozzy: "They think I worship the devil. They must be stupid or blind. I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel."

Any Luciferian energies I work with (which are different than satanic or demonic energies) has absolutely nothing to do with what music I listen to.

Unless someone details out a specific ritual with virgins and goats, maybe this should be in the Conversation.

Personally, I prefer to have my goats shaved.

Look, I'm a big lass, y'know. I need my optical illusions. In white I look like a tent; in florals, a sofa.

Actually, they scare me .

Could be you need a better chair. Try getting up and doing a few stretches now and then.

I don't know if "must" is the right word...because it's really more of a conscious decision. I wear black because I wanna, not because I hafta. As for the small children, I'm in Mordant's camp. Not sure what you mean by "books of evil," though.

When Marianne Faithfull was asked about Mick Jagger's devil-worshipping proclivities, way back in the day, she haughtily replied:

"A devotee of Satan??? A devotee of satin, more like!!!"

And that can pretty much be said for me too.

could some-one define strange?

I personally view... a plad button-down & too-tight demin with Cowboy boots & hat to border on the deranged myself...

Then there's that stupid-ass SWOOSH so many choose to adorn themselves with...

Sounds like Mick Mercer to me.

Anyway. I get to wear black lippy if I want. And drink Purple Nasties. And have a fake-blood-syringe-pen and lacy gloves. It's my culture , see? Don't you diss my culture. Don't you oppress me, mush.

Hey, this really would be better in the conversation bit. Then we could all have a big squabble, you could slag off my makeup and I could tell you how you don't understand the dark darkness of my dark darkened soul's utter dark. And then cry.

Ah... I remember my goth days. With my ankh and velvet top and my big stompy boots and all that liquid eyeliner. That was great... I used to have big arguments with all the little townies in my area and sit on Hampstead Heath with my friend Sam singing cumbaya at passers by. It introduced me to comic books- the Sandman by Neil Gaiman which is just ace and Shadowhawk which taught me about the evils of AIDs.

Everyone should be a goth for a couple of years at least once in their lives.

Ive never had problem with goths. I think it an interesting life style. I can respect that...until I saw some video by cradle of filth..I just wanted to run up to the lead singer , pinch his cheek and say "who's the scarewy gothy-wothy?" Thats guy is just too damn cutsey. I can no longer walk past a goth without thinking of him and having to run away quickly so I dont laugh in his/her face.

Hmmm... just to keep this appropriate to the Magick forum how many of us got into 'magic' by way of pop culture Satanism and/or magic?

Did anyone want to be Jimmy Page and follow Crowley's teachings like him?

Did anyone play D&D and even though you knew there was no real magic there you just thought Asmodeus and Demogorgon were really cool?

Anybody realize the power in making people frightened of you by drawing inverted pentagrams on your clothing and wonder what other powers there were?

Did anyone think Glenn Danzig knew answers and wasn't just a guy with a napolean complex who read enough to be dangerous and inaccurate.

How many Goths joined for the hope of real vampires and stayed for the friends you made?

For myself, I loved horror movies, comics, Alice Cooper, and Kiss when I was a wee tyke. None of that got me directly into 'magic' but it certainly helped me be open to it.

Although I do think I channelled Alice Cooper's "Dwight Fry" persona while getting beat up in seventh grade once. They left me alone after that.

Pop culture and magic are part of the same beastie for me. My old band in the first half of the 90s were partly powered by a bargain with the spirit of Jim Morrison. The rest of the energy was supplied by weed, kung-fu and serious hippy love vibes.

D'OH!!!!

I actually had an in-depth conversation with him about runes once, after a gig...back in 1990 or so, around the 1st solo album. He was really cool with me, but I know his reputation well, ha ha!

Did anyone want to be Jimmy Page and follow Crowley's teachings like him?

Not quite...but I did hear about Crowley through him, and picked up Magick In Theory & Practice at Sam Weiser's when I was about 13. It took me about 10 years to actually understand it...

Are there more punters out there whose perfectly innocent interest in the occult lead them into the eeeevillll realms of Metal/Goth/whateverdom?

Or is that just a de-school, home-ed thing?

The Goth/Industrial period of my life intersected my adventures with medieval recreation... which of course overlapped by AD&D/Warhammer gaming.

I was already familuar with martial arts, meditation, Astral projection & Gnostic mystism (though I hadn't quite come accross THAT term yet)

My Goth friends were deeply into the Vampire as Sex God(dess) paradigm which lead into sex politics & people manipulation... While my Norse friends had the Rune magik & magic Mushrooms at play... This was my first exposure to what I'll call "deleriants"... Alcohol, Nicotine, Cannabus...

The results of this intersection lead to an almost complete personality deconstruction... talk about the TOWER in effect.

MY eventual reconstruction brought about an intergration of the varried elements I'd been accessing along with Trance Dancing, the magik Mushroom, Shamanic Visionings, Drumming and so forth...

The Indi/Goth gave way to the ZEN-POP-SHAMANIC-RAVER who eventually tripped accross the States to here/now...

How many times have we done this sort of thing....?

I never stick around to make squeaky noises. I just calmly walk away till out of earshot..then burst out laughing. I have some sense of tact and decorum. Big and scary indeed..Ive yet met the goth that cant be defeated by my supreme advanced mime techniques.

I'm sure he's not as bad as I was making him out to be. I just remember hearing an interview with him talking about the Catharists and the Cainites with great authority and little accuracy.

I wouldn't doubt it if he is quite the Vitki though.

(I still like his first few albums too )

Glad I'm not the only one with an embarrassing goth past... as regards influencing/causing my interest in magick... nah, it was Psychic TV that did that. (Fortunately I swiftly made the transition from P-Orridge to Carroll. And got a haircut and washed all that shit off my face.)

you missed a dreadfully good time Stotie... though I didn't put any shit on my face until my brief stint amongst the Glam-Klub-Kid scenes of New York City...

This was just before that famous Klub-Kit lost it and Poisoned,Bludgeoned,Drowned & then chopped up his drug dealer boy-friend...

Huh? you never heard about that? oh... well never mind

oh and...

It's not fair, kegboy. Mime is the greatest evil the world knows. How can the average goth prevail against that?

They cannot prevail against it. I am stronger for I have spent a lifetime 'walking against the wind'. Once they realize that they are trapped in a box, they are mine. Haha!

Well, Danzig was well into Montague Summers, which may account for the misinformation (Double D'OH! )
