Right, I've got a day pass and even though we might be able to blag a chalet/floor-space from someone there, I really, really, really have nowhere to sleep at the moment. Any 'lithers going? If you can provide me w/ somewhere to crash (if'n I should need it) I would be SO grateful!

Uuuuuurgh, I just got back. Feeling kinda spaced after and hour or so's sleep... Hope you found a floor Pappuce (but isn't that sort of thing frowned upon if you're only meant to be there for a day?)

Right now, I believe Rizla is only just speeding away from Camber, the Leicester Indie Pop Minibus contingent having finished their pub lunch in Rye.

I guess this is the thread for reviews, anecdotes and Vincent Gallo's dick discussions, but not until I am rested and coherent...

My favourite moment was walking into the arena on my birthday, and seeing signs everywhere saying Youth Movies would be playing that night... It was like vincent organised a special treat just for me. Plus, I won 2 pounds on the 10p machine.

Sorry Papuse, would've offered crashspace if I'd seen this thread in advance.

But then having said that, we has some fairly bad shit going down on Saturday night, so it's probably just as well.

So they were doing day tickets then? We saw people with different coloured wristbands and wondered about that, but there's no mention of them on the website or anything..

I haven't had time to do a write-up yet, but I'll post it here when I do. Musically speaking, it was greeeaat - I don't think I saw a single band I didn't enjoy.

We had press passes that, in the end, cost me nothing AND magically transformed themselves into Sunday passes (the press office seemed to really dig the girl I went w/). Anyway, had absolutely no trouble getting floor space on Sat (even if there were about 6 of us virtually on top of each other) and, even more dinner!, by Sunday night I was fixed up w/ a chalet in the VIP section, and actually experienced COMFORT. Would like to talk about something other than my incredible jamminess, but I'm on a work-break and must drink coffee with my fellow fundraisers.....

The field is playing it too. That's going to be weird, mimimal techno in a butlins pub. Should be great though.

Is anyone excited about ATP at all? I'm so hyped up and already counting days. Really looking forward to seeing Okkervil River, Silver Jews, Explosions, Broken Social Scene, Iron And Wine...and Ghostface Killah. The line-up in general looks pretty grand. There are still more bands to be announced and I'm hearing rumours that My Bloody Valentine might be playing...It's gonna be great. Anyone coming?

The Natural Way
10:08 / 26.03.08
I'm not sure I'd really describe The Field as 'weird, minimal techno', though. Some of his (their?) stuff sounds a bit Ibiza cool anthems, TBH. It's hardly Basic Channel.

Not gonna make this one, but it looks AWESOME.

Re read please.
"That's going to be weird, mimimal techno in a butlins pub."

I'm weirded about techno in a Butlins pub.

I think I can see what people mean when they refer to The Field as minimal techno in that there's very few elements at play in many of their tunes, and what elements there are are often heavily looped, but for my money a better reference point is anthemic house.

Very fond of a couple of their tunes, though.

"anthemic house" Jesus that sounds horrible! I think I love The Field because he reminds me of Orbital every now and again and I miss my boys.
*sniff*

Wish I was more excited about going now, the whole thing is not giving me the case of oh my god as when I booked it. Maybe I should have gone to Primavera.

Say whaaaaat?!? Take another good look at that Explosions line up and then come back and admit you're actually very excited...

I'm very annoyed I have to work that weekend, but Pitchfork and (hopefully) Primavera will make up for it. Meet you in the Queen Vic, Foot Long Subbacultcha?

According to last.fm, The Field is "glitch microhouse" dontchaknow...

My problem with it is that The paper Chase are the only band on the list that I want to see that I haven't before. Now that Liars have dropped out. The swines!
Ah, it'll be great. Must be more chipper.

Black Sheep, I can't see MBV playing (not that I'd be upset or anything) but I'm still wishing for Jesu to be added. That would have me doing the happy dance.

You're on, MM! I take it it's obvious where the Vic is? I've not been to ATP before...

It's the only pub at Pontins, FLS. You will naturally gravitate there...

I wish! It looks amazing. But I guess we've had our fair share of amazing weekends this side of the Atlantic and I suppose I am seeing MBV three nights in a row anyway, but still...

Saw the National last night and they stormed the place. They're touring with a brass section and it's amazing can't wait to see them again on saturday.
