What I like about Barbelith.

Well I've just been to see Derren Brown with the beautiful man, Puck and Potguns. Which was wicked. So I like that about Barbelith; that because of this site a little group of Lither's went to the theatre together. And afterwards we ended up talking about Lith (obviously).

And we decided that although it has it's problems (as any micro-community does) what we love about Lith is that it really makes you not only think, but also step back and think about why you think what you think.

The fact that there are such a wide spectre of knowledge here

"Spectre of Knowledge." I like that - spooky, but well-informed. And well-fed, from the sound of it. Enjoys his meals, does the wide Spectre of Knowledge.

The things I like about Barbelith most, so far, are the friends I've made here. That and the monkeys (though I dread the day they are loosed on some self-indulgent thread I started).

Clever funny people. Abusive and cynical? Often, and damningly so, but funny. And clever.

Lula's last sentence about sums it up for me. Plus it do make I laugh sometimes.

I'd have to agree that friendship has been one of the better things I've enjoyed about this place.

[random biog trivia] Didja know that Derren Brown (who was then known merely as Darren Brown) was at a certain UK university at the same time as me and that Tom Coates boy? He was rather Gothy and we were all jolly scared of his hypnotic powers. Matt Lucas of Little Britain fame was there also, but no one knew him. I think it says much about my generation that the only famous people from my time at uni are a man who makes his living playing Russian roulette on live tv and the only gay in the village. [/random biog trivia] Er, I haven't really added anything of relevance to this thread, have I?

The friends is defintely one of the best thing about it. SO much so that I have the terror of Ghadis's stag do this weekend with various Barbeloids and others. Oh, the collective fear!

I like how everyone here's a billion times smarter than me. And I don't like it. And I do.

Denfield, the vast majority of Barbelith people are not smarter than you.

I like the pretty colours and the funky people. Or should that be the funky colours or the pretty people? Either way works really.

You know, I was in Habitat this morning and am now realising that the visual scheme of the board would fit right in there. That can be either a good or bad thing, obviously.

Familiar strangers I could meet in a pub, have a laugh with over a few drinks, and know there'd be conversation worth remembering.
And I think this every time I log onto Barbelith.

I started my new job on tuesday. Which means that I have to get up at 04.30 every bleeding morning (not on weekends, though) in order to catch a train. So, by now I am so tired that my eyes need matches to stay open, my fingers cannot curl as they should and I really cannot feel my wrists. And it has been snowing for the last 4 days. Not movie kind of snow, but this sharp stuff that flyes in the biting wind and damn nearly causes flesh wounds when it hits your face.
Then today I finally can open a computer and come to Barbelith. I am still worn-out and my hands hurt, but I have been laughing and learning new things for the last hour. I especially appreciate the "What I donĀ“t like in Barbelith"-thread...
Thank you very much.

Right now? Having a bunch of people who I can talk to about scary heathen experiences without being told I'm headed for the bin.

'It', i.e everyone here, raises the game. One has to pause before 'Post Reply' to check that one is not full of shit, and it leaks into the net at large.

Christ, have you been to toher message boards?

You have to pause...

Though obviously not long enough to check that one hasn't posted 'toher' instead of 'to other' after 4 ales.

Christ, have you been to other* message boards?

'Tis true. ByrneRobotics and OccultForums make me get down on my knees and thank gawd for our Temple and Comics nodes.
