I've been finding things in the driver's seat of my car - the sunglasses that had gone AWOL a week earlier, shining up at me from the crease between the seat and seatback (they could have slipped out of my pocket as I was getting into the car, but surely I would have noticed them earlier?); the case for a different pair of sunglasses (and the case was empty, I had to check) in the exact same spot a couple of days later.
It definitely feels like I'm getting little "pointless" gifts from the Universe, where the point is the process rather than the object. I like it, like finding things, would like to start gifting back; just have no idea what sort of gifts would be appropriate or who to give them to. (If I go outside for lunch, I share a bit of my sandwich and a glug of water, so this *may* be a reciprocal gesture.) I don't have a working relationship with any of the Names, don't even feel particularly drawn to any pantheon... so I'm really not sure where to start with the gifting back.
Anticipating one obvious question: only two things feel like they might count as significant encounters - my attention has really been drawn to the hummingbirds I see at work, and I met what I think may be a little gecko this weekend. I don't know any mythology having to do with hummingbirds, but I have a bit of history with geckos - have a gecko pin that I picked up at a street-fair; after I'd bought it the seller told me I'd have to wear it when I went to Hawai'i and a good friend and I had just been discussing the pros and cons of vacationing in Mexico vs. Hawai'i (but we haven't made it there yet).
(And there's our own beloved GEK; I've been eating a LOT of sugar lately...)
I don't know/feel that the "presents" are connected to the little reptile I spent time with or the hummingbirds, but don't "know"/feel that they aren't; it's a bit of synchrony and I pay attention even if I don't paste meaning onto that sort of thing.
Any suggestions, mythology, observations? |
