Jesus, Stoatie, your boss sounds like a heartless freak. BTW, my condolences on the passing of your Grandad. Take comfort in the fact that he had a long life and that you at least had a relationship with him. My grandparents, maternal and paternal, passed when I was still a small child, so I never really got to know them.
Anyway. Getting back to your freak of a boss...doesn't your place of employment allow for compassionate leave? It sounds like your HR person is in your corner, so that's something at least. It's my understanding that the HR people carry a fair amount of clout in these matters. I'd be very surprised if your boss won this battle and vetoed your right to attend your grandad's furneral. But fuck him, if that happens, call in sick. |
