Shit! No more Technopreists & only one more Metabarons! This sucks. Link to Newsarama story and comments:

So did nay of you lot buy these books? I was not overly fond of the 2000Ad stuff I read, but the Humandoids material was excellent.

To quote the esteemed Mr. Constantine:

"Bugger. Blast. Damn. Felching Hell."

I was enjoying Technopriest, and Nikolai Dante, and Sinister/Dexter. Now I'll have to look harder for the continuations....

Shit. I wonder if 'The complete Indigo Prime' is no longer happening? To be honest I'm not surprised some of the 2000Ad stuff met with bemusement - it's from all different times, and must seem pretty obscure to the uninitiated...

I was amazed that it went on as long as it did. Most fo the Humaniods books had orders so low that there was no way they made a profit..and the 2000 AD stuff was mostly things that had been reprinted recently or was just dropped on the market with no information.

In fact, I'd pretty much say that all three of the DC foreign lines have been dropped on the market with no promotion, and next to no work to let comics readers what they are, and why they should buy them.

Damn. That's a shame. I loved The Metabarons. A truly remarkable piece of work and I was greatly looking forward to further installments. Hopefully someone else will pick up the license.

On the good news front, 2000AD/rebellion plant to continue publishing GNs for the American market on their own. It looks like Humanoids are likely to follow suit...

If you get the chance and haven't already, check out Hewligan's Haircut...

I don't know if Humaniods is going to get picked up or continue on their own...rumors abound that they didn't secure the rights to publish what they were publishing properly.

I did find out that the reason both were dropped was because part of the deal was that they would meet certain sales figures, and they didn't. I have to think that the 2000 AD sales were so low was because they either published things that had been made available recently in book form (like Halo Jones), or things that people in the US hadn't heard of. I would have bought more if they published some of the Judge Dredd stuff that hasn't been seen in the US.

As has been said by other posters, the 2k range is to continue. The Complete Indigo Prime (which isn't actually complete...) will still be published but any books solicited after that month won't be published.

Instead Rebellion are overhauling the line up to include books they wanted to publish but D.C. weren't keen on. and to exclude stuff that would be being put out for the umpteenth time.

Expect ranges that have already been started to continue, with at least a couple more volumes for Robo-Hunter, Strontium Dog, Slaine, Sinister Dexter, and Nikolai Dante. They'll continue until there's a natural conclusion point in the narrative at which point the series will be re-evaluated - so that would be at the end of the original Gibson drawn Slade, Carlos E. leaving the art chores, Slaine the King, Eurocrash, and Tsar Wars respectivelty.

Also expect modern Dredd scripted by John Wagner to be out in force, of the three books a month one will be Dredd. Upcoming titles include Sin City, The Chief Judges Man, and Total War.

When this was announced on Tuesday I was seriously annoyed. When the house of Tharg released their statement the next day I was greatly cheered, the revised list of titles that are coming out looks much better than the D.C. selected titles. Though my wallet isn't pleased.

"Though my wallet isn't pleased."

I think is was probably one of the key issues, on top of the lack of promotion. How many of these books did DC put out? About 4 every month at least, that's a lot of material to try and squeeze into the marketplace in such a short period of time. It's good to hear that lot of the books will be continued, I hope the release pattern will allow a bit of breathing room.

Well that fucking sucks. I just hope they'll still be able to release some more of the Jodorowsky books, especially the rest of the Incal.

Nicklas and context be damned

I would really want to read the forthcoming second installation of "I am Legion", so I hope that's among the things they try to find a new publisher for.

Mildly rotting, but doesn't warrant its own thread:

As a Yankee, what's the easiest route to getting 2000AD back issues? I've been trawling through eBay for a couple of months and only now have gotten hold of the Progs featuring Shaky Kane's SOUL GUN WARRIOR. Is there an online UK comics store with a deep selection of issues and willingness to ship overseas? Anyone? Bueller?

Fuck, that's awful.

How the fuck will I get the rest of Technopriests now?! I only have the first book.

Good news: there is a second TPriests collection out!

Bad news: presumably the third one, scheduled for Fall, I think, is axed.
