For those of you who haven't seen it the Labour broadcast went out earlier today. It was directed by Anthony Minghella and it's really, really good. Not only does Blair put forward the difference between Labour and the Tories but it basically presents Brown as the next leader of the party. You can download it from Labour's website. It's worth it just for a moment of wishful thinking.

They seem to have omitted the slo-mo soft-rock-soundtrack part where they go to the fairground and Gordon wins Tony a giant teddybear at hoopla, which they then swing between them as they walk back to Downing Street, smiling and eating candyfloss.

What I loved was the 'editing them together rather than having them together' motif. They are actually only shown together for about 10% of the piece. The rest of it appears to have been filmed in the same rooms on different days. Their relationship is every bit as close as America and Iran. Fighting parents playing happy families for the kids, it's an old tale. Bless.

You know them then? Right? Or have you just been reading the newspapers? Because it always seems to me that "new" Labour and "old" Labour are both represented on the front bench and yet so conveniently tense with one another, according to the media. It must be so handy, the impression that despite their ill will they can still fight together to get it all in line... except, maybe they're not actually fighting that much. Maybe that's actually the myth here.
