I'll start.
Cheese and pickle in french bread. Mature cheddar, but not too mature. Just that. Possibly with a pickled onion on the side. By fuck, is there a finer sandwich? Just the simple joy that these two ingredients bring to the party. Ate it today, gave me a happy. Hell it almost gave me wood.
Plus, later tonight on TV, a movie starring Ron Perlman and some mutant baboons. Could life be any sweeter?

A bag of white rabbits.
Lying on grass in the sunshine.
Listening to comedy on Radio 4.
Apple tea.

Taken separately, these items are quite enjoyable. Combine all four and you're giving me paroxyms of quiet pleasure. As opposed to loud pleasure, which would involve a totally different list...

22:03 / 09.04.05
Good scrambled eggs, not too runny, or dry, made from free range eggs (none of that pale tasteless battery farmed shit) , freshly laid are best. Toast, salt and pepper, no tomato sauce needed. Or maybe perfect boiled eggs and soldiers…. why are all of these egg based…..? I'm going to buy myself some chickens and a coop

MacGyver's sandwich.

The beautiful man's Mum and Dad's sofa which is as big as a double bed, so two people can lie on together.

Proper Somerset air which you can feel cleansing your lungs as you breathe.

Proper Somerset dark, where you can see every single star.

The lemony, sugary bit left on your plate after you've eaten pancakes.

Someone else's chip. But only if they've put heaps of salt and vinegar on.

Countryside stars. Fresh black coffee. The smell of gasoline. Poetry. Shady trees. Beer. Neck rubs. An evening to read. Telling ghost stories to children. A good spliff and a pack of Marlboros. A sunny day on the motorcycle. Watching snowstorms from behind warm glass. Slices of Balderson and apple.

The smell of the days first cup of coffee
The groundhog ambling out from under the shed with 3 lil groundpiglets.

Chopping a big pile of logs and feeling all Grizzly Adams...sans beard.
Sitting in my back garden in a t-shirt for the first time this year.
The smell of new books.
Planting up the allotment with all kinds of nice veggies.
Watching masterzen snoozing after a big winey lunch.
Fiddling around on the guitar, with a post-harvest spliff, and a stinky belgian beer.

I'm unbearably pleased right now

Vanilla Rooibos Tea, which I have just discovered and which I believe might have, had it arrived in time, brought about peace in the middle east.

Waking up to that special hush of a perfectly sunny sunday morning and knowing you have all the time in the world to drink coffee.

The Natural Way
17:38 / 10.04.05
Red-bush tea does indeed dinner! Takes me back to being a little kid.

Dancing. There are VERY few things better than dancing. People who don't dance are actually ill in the head.

The smell of Coffee in the morning pisses me off, TBH. It's almost as bad as the sound of wine glug, glug, glugging into a glass. The whole coffee-shop ambience - the satisfying crunch of freshly brought newspapers, the gentle farty spluttering of the machine and the rich smell of delicious coffee bean - just makes me want to reach for the "Urgh! Fuck!" thread.

Pappuce, are you sure you're right in the head?

For me:

Sitting in Princes Street gardens, looking up at the castle

Eating a ripe, juicy pear

Hearing Loomis sing in the next room

Sitting on a train, with a good book and a home made sandwich

22:02 / 10.04.05
Staying up all night. Still officially the Best Thing Ever. Sunrises are so much prettier to take in at the end of a night than they are to wake up to at the start of a day.

I'll nominate the countryside stars-thing, too. In fact, just the sky. In general.

Laying in bed just before falling asleep (add a significant other for extra goodness).

A fresh loaf of rye bread.

Barbelith. (Can that count as simple?)

Waking up late to an empty house/dorm/apartment (again, add a significant other for extra goodness).

Clear blue skies

Receiving unexpected postcards/packages in the mail

Fairy lights

Sourdough bread. Especially toasted, with extra fruit jam. Or else with grilled portabella mushrooms, cheddar cheese and mashed avocado (Best. Sammich. Evah.)
Also fresh crusty white bread with real butter and honey.
(I could turn this whole list into a Fave Sarnie List, easy. Dayum, now I'm hungry.)

Aw, thank you. You smell nice too.

I felt quite happy and satisfied to be driving my new used car around with the windows down today, listening to old cassettes. Now I'm settled in with a cold beer and the first Fenway home game of the year... ah....

admiral sausage: I'm going to buy myself some chickens and a coop

You, me and matsya, maaaan. He's already got them chickens (liberated from the battery farms), and me, my biggest little pleasure has revolved around assembling a chicken tractor out of PVC. I made a detailed plan, and have already had to improvise twice after messing up, and reglue a few different joint because they're under pressure.

But seeing the skeleton of the thing take shape gives me pleasure.

I don't know how simple it is, since it involves tools and schematics and imaginary chickens from the future, but some days that's what it takes.

Various combinations of: my mates, sofa, duvet, tea, jaffa cakes, Doctor Who marathons, chatting.

A decent night's sleep.
