Rats!

Ok, quite simply I'm trying to find information on any goddess or such who has something to do with rats.
The background is this. I read an article regarding rats somewhere (don't have it right here, I'll try to post it later) and because of this spent some time thinking about rats, how they are excellent survivors and adapt to whatever environment they are in. I got into a whole admiration of rats thing.
That night I had a dream in which I encountered a woman, whom I felt somehow had something to do with rats. It's all rather vague, despite me writing it down as soon as I woke, but one thing I remember is that she said: "you can drop by at any time."
So, here I am trying to figure out who this person might be and if there's more at work than my own bewildered mind. I plan on trying some form of ritual to get contact again (if it indeed was contact the first time), but before I throw myself into it, I'd love some information on this chick. It would also help to have something to focus my attention on.
All I've been able to find is some references to an Indian goddess named Karni Mata, but without much information beyond that. Besides I didn't feel any Indian vibe at all in my dream, so I'm still looking.
I don't remember much about her, except the sentence and the fact that the meeting took place in a subway.

Any information, ideas, links or anything at all would be helpful.

You're approaching it arse-backwards, I reckon. Speak to the person who appeared in your dream and seek to find out her name and as much as she is willing to reveal to you about herself. Approach it as magic. Make contact. Listen. Learn from what happens. As opposed to arbitrarily attributing the name of some random rat related Goddess to her that someone has told you about on the internet...

I dunno, there's no harm in trying but sometimes they like you to do the leg work.

Find out as much as you can about rats and make a rat altar. Decorate it with images of rats and rat-related things. Light a black or dark blue candle to the Queen of the Rats. Make sufficient offerings that you think rats might like, erring on the side of extravagance. Listen to your instinct when selecting offerings, she might let you know what she wants. I see no reason why you can't just interact with Her as "The Queen of the Rats until such a time as she might want to tell you anymore about Herself. Make service to her. Big her up. If you are a musician, writer Her a song. If you are an artist, paint Her a picture to go on your Rat Altar. Don't rush it, let the relationship unfold in its own time. Speak to Her regularly, make offerings to Her regularly, weekly if you're that serious about it. If you're not that serious about it, be careful.

maybe before jumping into what rats are supposed to mean, you could think about what rats mean to you, there might be a pre-existing symbol system. if rats are too narrow of a search, you could broaden it to mice or rodents. at least you would have a base even if it's to acknowledge complete ignorance of rats.

Thanks people, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I've been spending some time thinking more about this, and I think the altar idea sounds good. My whole reason for searching for existing deities was to have some sort of focus to help me. An altar might help to do that.

Anyway, thanks.
