I tried this with the I Ching a while ago, more just to see what would happen than anything else. The procees was simply, pick something tipped in the Sunday business pages as a rising stock, then consult the I Ching along the lines of 'What will result if I invest in..., at...'
What I learned was, you have to be very strict in your interpretation if you're going to be successful at this - There's no room for vague New Age thought with regard to personal growth or related when it comes to this stuff; if the initial reading isn't overwhelmingly positive, stay well away. Also, anything with 'changing lines' is completely contraindicated. But, once those harsh lessons have been learned ( I'd recommend a couple of dry runs, definitely, ) it does seem to work out, the I Ching as a system not being one of those that seems particularly averse to materialism, philosophically.
The main thing is, it's the book that's making the decisions, not you. The minute there's any hint of personal opinion when it comes to your reading of the material, you will regret it.
At least that's my theory - if you're so minded as to give it a go, remembering that all you're doing is asking is 'what would happen if...' at least to begin with, I'd be interested to hear how it turns out. |
