I need to know if something is possible / viable to do for a website, and know nothing about such matters, so refer to you types for help...

Basically, I want a 'mixing desk' type graphical interface which will have buttons to activate and mute stem mixes of a simple tune, i.e a mix of Drums, a channel of bass, a lead line, some vox etc...

The idea being, visitors can lark about 'remixing' the tune on the fly by clicking buttons...Is there a way to do this? Software to do it with ease? It sounds kind of easy, but isn't, as obviously the stems need to be sync'd at all times, otherwise it just sounds like a drum machine being thrown a flight of stairs.

Any web design people who know? Chhhhhhheeeeeeeeerrrrrrrsssssss.

Well, it depends on exactly what you want it to do, how authentic it's got to be and how much variety in what's available you want. There are lots of Flash sites out there which allow you to produce music of sorts from a set of predefined sounds, starting and stopping them (e.g. Kompakt Kittens), and I shouldn't think that changing the volume and so on would be much of an extra headache.

You're not going to get a full mixing desk though and you won't be able to offer lots of full tunes to mix together. There's only so many tracks it's feasible to have available.

Yeeeeess....the problem with the kompact kittens site is the same one I'm experiencing...the loops ain't sync locked, so pretty quickly it sounds like falling down the stairs...

I'm guessing that the only way to do it is to have all the loops start at once muted, and then the clicks unmute and remute stems...thing with that, of course, is the overhead might slow things down to a grind..,

We'll seee...I'll link back here if I get it sorted...

Anymore ideas?
