So? Where are the 3/4 lengths coming from this year, eh? And have you been mocked for wearing 'em yet?

Spaniel
08:33 / 01.04.05
It's not bloody Summer it's Spring. You must try to remain calm!

Okay, so the sun's out round these parts *right now*, but yesterday Brighton was grey as fuck and bloody cold. And yew know it.

Goodness Gracious Meme
08:53 / 01.04.05
Actually I don't, though it was grotty up here as well.

I was just trying for some positive thinking(and a glimpse of Saxy's piano legs).

Why do you always have to crush my fragile, little-girl dreams, Boboss?

Spaniel
08:56 / 01.04.05
Because I love Ken Loach the best.

Regrettable Juvenilia

His films are real! Not like Hollywood films which are for kids.

Spaniel
09:37 / 01.04.05
That's right. They are real, unlike GGM's silly fantasies, where no one is addicted to drugs and it is summer all the time and it is for kids.

Ganesh
09:37 / 01.04.05
Maybe he'll give the trouserial brow-furrowing a miss this year. The winter equivalent - "would leather trousers make me look too gay" - didn't seem to happen.

Spaniel
09:38 / 01.04.05
GGM, you are for kids.

Goodness Gracious Meme
09:44 / 01.04.05
nesh, you may be right.

Can it be, that with two Sax-sprogs *and* his literary gushings, Sax just doesn't have time for us/fashion-angst anymore?

*sobs*

Maybe he doesn't have time for trousers at all...

brrrr

Ariadne
09:58 / 01.04.05
As a father-of-two AND a novelist, surely he has no choice but to wear corduroy at all times? And 3/4 length cord trousers would just be silly.

Spaniel
10:00 / 01.04.05
I dunno, I quite like the idea.

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:02 / 01.04.05
oops, that aimed at evil Stoatie. *not* an image I needed

And 3/4 cords sound fine to me. with birkenstocks/bk mules or converse ... lovely...

Spaniel
10:04 / 01.04.05
With Birkenstocks sgood .

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:07 / 01.04.05
Actually, come to think of it, a dear chum (the elf, boboss) wears exactly that combination, and looks spiffing.

So there, Aridane!

Sax, why hast thou forsaken us?

Ariadne
10:12 / 01.04.05
Who the heck's this Aridane imposter?

Oh well, so I'm wrong sartorially. Nothing new there. I think Sax is already in Waterstones, standing leafing through copies of his book and nodding sagely.

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:18 / 01.04.05
whoops! sorry bout that.

You're probably right. He's probably polishing his pipe and adjusting his corduroy turn-ups right now

Spaniel
10:21 / 01.04.05
Hmm, I don't actually own any Birkenstocks, Meme, but I do wear cords a lot at the mo'.

I plan on buying some Birkenstocks this summer, but I was put off last year by the queue outside the Birkenstock shop in Covent Garden. Also, they're blooming expensive but I'm earning a bit more money so now's the time, I reckon.

Aridane's teh coolest.

Regrettable Juvenilia
10:22 / 01.04.05
Surely he has someone else to polish his pipe. He's a celebrity now.

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:24 / 01.04.05
Ah, the humourous potential for online misunderstanding. I was pointing out to you. Boboss, that I was referring to our friend, the elf.

And birkenstocks goooooood. Try Office, they have a good selection. Though I'm still sulking coz the veggie shop doesn't do the red ones.

Spaniel
10:34 / 01.04.05
Ah, the Elf, better known around these parts as Gumbitch.

Yeah, I think I'll check Office out. I want the backless, slip on ones in a browny colour - but I could change my mind.

Sax
10:36 / 01.04.05
Well, discerning novelists are this year wearing a pair of three-quarter length linen trousers from Muji. Only problem is that the seam along the zip's bust and as they don't look good with underoos there's a very real danger of polished or unpolished pipeage.

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:40 / 01.04.05
Ah, yet more confusion. I'd forgotten about Gumbitch(who I tend to think of as more phillip bond than elvish)

Round my way, the elf=the precious=the only vegan teetotaller we know....

Oh, and what shoe size are you? I have a pair of those exact b/ks that I hardly ever wear/want to replace with some black ones...

Goodness Gracious Meme
10:44 / 01.04.05
Sax! You have returned to us!

*falls to knees*

And muji=good choice, sir. Have been pondering some o' those myself. But will probably end up in Primark, as per (where the 3/4s are stupidly cheap and fit me really well)

Good luck for tonight, old thing. What is the book-launching fantasy wunderkind wearing to launches these days?

Sax
10:58 / 01.04.05
Oh, I never went away. I was here all the time, watching you.

And after much deliberation, the Young Author About Town will be wearing a navy v-necked T-shirt by Kenzo, a pair of jeans by Bent+Corrupt, brown Chelsea boots by Ravel, and a Gap *spits* jacket in a sort of light brown. Author or Geography teacher... it's a fine line.

Spaniel
10:58 / 01.04.05
Ah, that elf. Now I seeeee.

I'm size 8 stroke 8 1/2.

Ariadne
11:05 / 01.04.05
Will someone be taking pictures? For posterity, for showing to the weans when they grow up - and for us?

Alex's Grandma
11:05 / 01.04.05
Isn't it in your contract that you have to wear all black though Sax ? I don't know what the world's coming to if it isn't

Sax
11:09 / 01.04.05
Although I may seem garbed in a jocular fashion, Alex, rest assured that my heart is as black as Saturn's arsehole.

And, Ganesh, you know full well that I wasn't worried about looking gay with the leather trousers. I was worried about looking like a dumpy Michael Flatley.

Spaniel
11:10 / 01.04.05
No, no, no. Authors don't have to wear black these days. The teacher look is absolutely fine.

Get with it, guy.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
16:42 / 01.04.05
Hooray! There are trousers!

I tell you, I've been fretting about this as much as I have about Mr The Ball's impending nuptials. A fretful day, it's been. Fretful, I tell 'ee.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
16:45 / 01.04.05
Oh, and for the record- GGM, I'm not evil. Merely misguided. History will be my judge. (I'm a little worried about that, actually... me and history have never got on too well, and it can be an awful pottymouth when it feels like it.)

Ganesh
20:55 / 01.04.05
I was worried about looking like a dumpy Michael Flatley.

Which is obviously such a hetero look...

You're right, though. Those would've been the wrong trousers.

Sax
14:41 / 04.04.05
Michael Flatley's gay? But he's always surrounded by birds.
