So, the peer to peer network grokster is in the dock at the supreme court at the moment. It stands accused by music giant MGM of utilising technology that 'encourages illegal activity'... details here.
The two previous court rulings have both come out in favour of the file sharers, following the precident that VCRs also provided functionality to abuse copyright but was ruled legal. Now I'm not to interested in what people think the rights and wrongs of p2p are... I am, more interested to ask if people think that p2p could survive a supreme court ruling against it - how would such a ruling effect technological development and the way we listen to music? what do you all think? |
