It was just kind of dreary. I love everything except the vocals, mind.

Well I thought it was funny.

Fuck you all.

I thought it was funny. Just forgot to even check this thread for a bit, y'know?

>>>The second best Gorillaz track is...the one that samples the opening synth score from Day of the Dead, "M1-A1".<<<

That's the one they use to open the live act. Darkened concert hall, and you start to hear that deep pulsing synth hook rise up, and the voice calling out "Helloooooo....is there anyboody theeeeere..." It's a great fucking show opener.

Too bad that once the concert actually gets underway, it's terrible. Gorillaz = worst concert I've ever seen. And I LIKE Gorillaz.

What was with 'Laika Come Home'? Junglist reworkings of Gorillaz which just seemed to be people shouting over the original tracks and then Terry Hall, Terry Hall?! singing M1-A1?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Gorillaz gig I went to. But sounds like they may not be touring this time round. I saw a Q and A session in a Virgin store in NYC with them, Albarn reckons they don't want to do the whole playing behind screens thing again but can't think what else to do for a live set that isn't going to cost a billion pounds.

Demon Days is great though, I've been bopping to it all week. Has anyone else watched the dvd you can get with it?

2D. Frontman, prettyboy, halfwit.

I don't particularly care for Demon Dayz (which I've just transplanted to the other thread) but I do kinda like the video for the new single, with Shaun Ryder. Anyone seen this? Big old Shaun's head hidden in Noodle's bedroom so she can play with him any time she wants, 'Cold Lazarus' meets Jamie Hewlett. More genius.

Loved that. Simple, but such a blast seeing Noodle bop around. And that classic shot of her going:

"Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh! OooooOoooooOooooooOooooooOooOooOooooooooooooooh!"

Jeez, no-one bitched this much about The Archies.

I think this band would be much better if they were an indie comic book series with the odd animated special thrown in.

I think having to release music is really getting in the way of what they're best at.

I really like ‘Dare’ – I think it illustrates that Albarn has always had this gift for turning bandwagon-jumping into an art that actually yields great results. So often, you can tell exactly what he’s been listening to when a record he’s been involved with is released. There are some obvious examples, but the arguably less obvious one that always sticks in my mind is that when everyone was obsessed with Spiritualised and gospel choirs, Blur dropped ‘Tender’, which arguably stands up as well as anything else from that period. Anyway, ‘Dare’ comes across as a pretty obvious attempt to make a DFA track, but I think it achieves many of the things that DFA tracks achieve – ie, primarily, it makes you want to dance. Plus it finds a better use for Shaun Ryder than he’s had in a while…
