Fridgemagnet, I'm at http://goingsomewhere.blogsome.com nowadays.

(That's been out of date for about four years.)

Yeah, there are quite a few of those blogs that are dead now.

w1rebaby
18:19 / 11.10.05
I'll change that.

If people notice dead blogs just let me know and I can grey them out. (For technical reasons, i.e. it spoils the order and I was too crap to realise this at the time, something has to remain in that position.)

Okay, changes made.

If people are still using their blogs, and they have RSS feeds, then *please* can they tell me what they are, because I'm going to write an RSS aggregator for my blogring software that will be a feed of the latest entries from all of the blogs, and the more RSS feeds the better (and the more people who will read your stuff). You have a feed somewhere. Work out where it is.

Fridge: can you add http://blogs.fasterlouder.com.au/Luke to my listing? The RSS for that is here:

http://blogs.fasterlouder.com.au/rss.php?u=Luke

Also, the captainfez.com/blog/ feed is here:
http://www.captainfez.com/blog/atom.xml

Cheers!

Right.

Le aggregated XML feed est arrivé.

This displays the latest 50 entries by date of everyone who is on the list and has a feed that works and that I can parse the date of.

Because it's obviously quite a big job to grab and parse all of the RSS feeds there, there's a minimum gap of three hours between when it actually aggregates them all - if you check it less than three hours after somebody else has, you will get a cached copy. I reckon that there are unlikely to be more than fifty new entries within three hours. You may always be the unlucky person who is hit with the rebuild, so if it seems to be taking a long time to load, bear with it.

And if you don't have an RSS feed that you've told me about you're not on it, and I am not going hunting for feeds through everyone's blogs. (Livejournal users get it calculated automatically, by the way, because it's always in the same place whoever they are.)

Bump, because I want the evening yanks to see this and I spent a while writing my own aggregator....

Actually, it's that bloody Tom Coates who's screwing up the feed, by publishing in RDF (RSS 1.0) rather than 2.0 like everyone else. It won't validate a mix of different versions effectively.

I'll fix this. I think I may have to start parsing everything myself rather than just passing on the <item>s that various feeds provide.

w1rebaby
20:05 / 12.10.05
Ah, no, I think I've fixed it by playing with the namespaces and changing one of the regexps I use.

w1rebaby
20:08 / 12.10.05
...or maybe not.

Sorry, I'm going to exclude this feed until I can get it working. Only RSS 2.0 feeds are going to be accepted for the meantime.

I'm not picking on Tom here, his feed is perfectly valid, it's just that it's not in the same format as the one I'm trying to produce, so I can't just copy the items straight off and will have to parse and rewrite them. It's not hard, it just wasn't something I was expecting or capable of doing last night.

Apparently, I have an XML feed at:
http://www.flyingfists.org/index.xml

I also recently started this blogging-for-pay thing over at:
adoptionblogs.com, which has an RSS 2.0 feed hither and an Atom feed yon. It's totally not a Barbelith kind of thing, though.

Well, that's a lie, actually -- I'm about to start churning out entries on the I Ching in a mad bid to fill space. The rest of it is all baby pictures and news from China.

I'm using Bloglines because it seemed the easiest feed reader/aggregator when I started collecting blog and news feeds. It's web-based so I can look at blogs from any browser and platform.

I notice from a quick root around that Google Reader (beta) is available, and that there are lists of feed readers on Wikipedia (Aggregators, List of news aggregators) most of which I have never heard of (and therefore have no idea if they are friendly).

I just checked the blogring newsfeed out and it looks great, Fridge, however....

I know that my blog isn't for everybody and makes the Barbelith webring as a whole less worksafe. And I'd hate for people to not use this because of me, so if anybody wants it gone from the feed, I would not feel upset, angered, or abandoned by its removal.

Or it could be marked as NSFW.

I note that none of the recent updates have been made. Does anyone know if Mr. Fridgemagnet is interacting with the board at the moment.

My blog is Chasing the Muse, which I've been playing around with for about a year now. Much fun and amusement.

The Fasterlouder blog I kept is no longer working, as I've left that place.

HOWEVER, I've started a blog that's just for my critical writing. It's called What Do You Read, My Lord? and you can find it here. There's an XML feed for it here.

At the moment, I'm collating all the stuff I've done for online places, so there's nothing *new* per se. But it's all coming.

I've been doing a blog called Shards Fragments and Totems for a while (archives go back to January 2003 but I think there was stuff before then). The URL is http://blog.grievousangel.net/.

The RSS feed is at http://blog.grievousangel.net/?feed=rss2 but I'm not sure it works that well.

Add it to the ring when you have time.
