IMDB file on the film
This was on the other night. Anyone else see it?
This is a good film, I thought. I'd always liked Francis Bacon's artwork, and it was good to see a fairly faithful reconstruction of the whole period and group.
Things to note were the way the filmmaker used (subtle) effects such as wobbling cameras to create a visual aesthetic simmilar to the paintings- without, i thought, ripping them off or making it cheesy.
Good part- at the begining, where a man who will become Bacon's lover/muse is breaking into the artist's studio from above, with the intention of theiving. The way it's shot, we have this minute of him falling through blackness, with these screeching strings in the background.
