Stop The War march Sat 19/3/05 - London - stewards anyone?

You may or may not have seen posters and stickers up for this, but basically there's a big STWC march going on in London this Saturday.

Details are on stopwar.org.uk but, to sum up, it starts at Hyde Park at midday, then saunters along towards to end up at Trafalgar Square, where there'll be speakers and music - I'm told more music than usual for past demos. The samba band will be there too. Numbers are expected to be good, there've been lots of coaches and so on hired and the recent Prevention Of Freedom Bill should pull in more people as well.

The thing they're pretty excited about, though, is that for the first time since 1968 (or so they say) a march will be allowed to go through Grosvenor Square, past the US embassy. You can come along and watch the Marines look bored.

What would be *really* handy is if anyone wanted to steward for it. Now, that will require being up and about on Saturday morning, but apart from that no particular skills are necessary, just the ability to wander about, point people in the right direction and say "'scuse me mate, sorry to have to say this but if you do a sit-down protest in the middle of a march, it kind of holds everyone else up a bit, would you mind moving to the side?" I'm doing it myself, first time ever, and I don't know anything (and could do with some company too).

If you're interested, drop us a PM and I'll give you details.

Oh, and there's other stuff going on at Trafalgar Square on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with speakers, more music, sleep-outs and so on. Details on the site again.
