Quote: Yeh, totally see what you mean. To me though, mysticism means union with the divine, and in most traditions like Christianity, Buddhism, there is an emphasis on holiness before the divine (in whatever terms this is defined). This seems at odds with the primacy of the self.
Mind you I don't speak for all LHPer's in the world, yes, the RHP seeks to unify with the absolute, devine, whatever. But mysticism is not RHP or LHP, these are categories which are expressions of mysticism, as mysticism is defined thusly: A belief in the existence of realities beyond perceptual or intellectual apprehension that are central to being and directly accessible by experience. A sense of holiness is not so much at odds with the LHP as it is seen as misplaced by the LHP. But yes, mysticism as it is primarly defined in the english dictionary means union with the divine, the one above is the secondary definition, the LHP is definately about:
1. Becoming a God/Actualizing fully your Godhood
2. Going against the grain of social "norms", to understand and actualize the self, which is called antinomianism.
3. Bending the universe to the Will for the benefit of the self and its developement, which is generally called, "black" magick.
:whether or not mysticism plays a part in this is up to the individual. More info can be found HERE. |
