Dinosaur Jr reform with the original line up for the first time since 1989- J Mascis, Lou Barlow & Murph... Could the success of the pixies reunion be an influence?

The only problem at the moment is there only scheduled UK gig is at the Download Festival with many a Nu metal band and er Feeder....

anybody else slightly excited about this? or is it an indie reunion too far?

I'd love to see this as I loved those early Dinosaur Jr records- but I also remember being disapointed by both Sebadoh and Dinosaur Jr live in the past- as both had terrible sound and both were very boring to watch...

also will the material comprise of just early Dinosaur Jr stuff before Barlow left- all will we get Start Choppin etc? and if we get later Dinosaur jr stuff do we get Sebadoh stuff too (i always understood that Freed Pig was about Mascis so unlikely)? so many questions...

One of the first gigs that I went to was the Rollercoaster gig with D Jr, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain and Blur in one night. I remember liking D Jr, they didn't do much on stage, but they sounded great (this would have been around 1990 or so - can't remember the album) Anyway, I bought the album, and they drifted away from my interest - much better live was my opinion.

I'm just not as interested in music lately to get interested by anyone reforming, but they were good live from memory.

This is interesting...

I have no doubts about the band's ability to still rock - Mascis is still fucking amazing (check out his recent BBC sessions album), but..

..I was under the impression that they still really, really hated each other, to the extent that (as I heard it) a drunken Lou Barlow turned up at J. Mascis's solo show in London last year to cause trouble,,

And as much as I'd like to see them rip through the hits, I'm a bit fed up with bands reforming - I mean, your respective solo careers have been good, you don't like each other... what's the deal here beyond money, y'know?

Yeah, there have been a bit too many of these lately. And it's never the bands you'd really 'want' to see again - I'm pretty sure age would turn out not to have withered My Bloody Valentine or Big Black, but The House Of Love ? The Wonderstuff ? The Neds ?

Apparently there's even a new Wedding Present album out shortly...
