Never to be co-stars

One of the things I do is collate pairs of celebrities who will never, ever star in the same film together. Because they are, in reality, pressed from the same mold in central casting. Or are the same person. I'm not sure which.

Here are some of them:

Albert Finney
and
Brian Cox

Crispin Glover
and
Steve Zahn

Meryl Streep
and
Natascha McElhone (she even does accents!)

Daryl Hannah
and
Lori Singer

Maybe Lewis Smith
and
Scott Glenn,
although
Iggy Pop might be a better Glenn contender.

Hollywood is a city of doppelgangers.

So, who've you noticed?

Jamie Foxx and his twin brother James Fox. Although I would pay money to see James Fox reprising his role as chas in a remake of performance but with Jamie Fox in the Mick Jagger role...

Pullman and Daniels -- YES! They will never, ever be in a movie together.

01:08 / 01.03.05
Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley, though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the two of them work together, if you know what I mean.

Too late Patrick, Kiera served as one of Natalie's Padme-dala doubles in Episode 1. I immediately went for those two as well when I realized that.

Buuuut... I'll go with Kate Beckingsale and Kate(!) from LOST.

Chas Palminteri and Joe Montegna

Rebecca Gayheart and Denise Richards

Jason Schwartzman and Jason Biggs

Christina Ricci and Fairuza Balk

Alyson Hannigan and Julianne Nicholson

If I've erred and any of these pairs have already appeared together, well, I guess I'd have to care first.

So, so, soooo true.

Re: Scott Glenn. He looks like SO many people! Aside from the afore mentioned Lewis Smith and Iggy Pop he also resembles David Carradine and there's more than a touch of Christopher Walken about him. I'm sure there are others too, I just can't think of them at the moment. I'll bet he's never short of sencond choice roles.

Triplets
09:55 / 01.03.05
Tobey Maguire and Jake Glynenhaal.

I'm still hoping for Macguire and Maggie Glynenhaal to star opposite other in a steamy romance, however. Mmm!

Hattie's Kitchen
10:08 / 01.03.05
Jodie Foster and Helen Hunt. Unless they were cast as sisters, in which case it would be OK.

Um..Charlie Sheen & Martin Shee... Nnnnnghh! NO!

Unless they were cast as sisters

I thought the casting for EdTV was brilliant, Woody Harrellson and Matthew McConaughey do look like brothers. Too bad the people who played the rest of the family were so off the mark. Likewise for the lead actresses of Hope and Faith.

Ed Norton and John Cusack.

Oh, I love the Helen/Jodie one. I will marry one of them, don't care which. Or both.

And, this is cheating, but:
Patrick Swayze and Gordon Ramsay

I know Gordon Ramsay's not a an actor but he has been on the telly and I've been dying to point the resemblance out to someone. (For non-Brits- Gordon Ramsay is a Scottish chef who has had a couple of tv shows. And he looks just like Patrick Swayze).

Eric Balfour (who played the scrawny ugly guy Claire quite inexplicably had the hots for in Six FeetUnder series one) and Frank Zappa. But he'd have to grow the hair and beard.

Richard Gere and my brother Andy. Except I don't have a picture of him so the comic effect rests solely on your charitable willingness to take mt word for it.

Incidentally, Andy has never, to my knowledge, put a gerbil up his arse.

Michael Shanks (him off of Stargate) and Ben Browder (him off of Farscape).

Bruce Willis (him off of Moonlighting) and Jerry Doyle (him off of Babylon 5) - strangely, these two got bald together over a couple of years too.

Al Pacino and Ron Silver

Slightly off-topic, unless for whatever reason he's CGI-ed 'back,' but Ludwig Wittgenstein and the actor who played Jim Robinson in Neighbours.

I wouldn't say they should never do a movie together - Wittgenstein could 'hit the roof' a lot, whereas Robinson could muse at length about the nature of language, staring into the swimming pool, but it might, at the same time, get a bit confusing.
