Doc Frankenstein

Did anyone read this one? Written by the Wachowski bros n drawn by Steve Skroce- the 1st n 2nd issues are out. I thought this was pretty damn-cool! It's got that Super-Compression thing GM came up with for JLA Classified goin on!
Reinventing the Frankenstein monster as a sort of Doc Savage pulp hero (at least I think that's the vibe they're goin for what with the name and all. I dont know much about the pulp era- way before my time- except for what Warren Ellis does with Planetary and his Apparat books) is a pretty cool concept and they really do it justice here with the 1st issue briefly recapping the Doc's history before setting up a BIG battle with what some religious fanatic types. As they say, madness ensues.
The 2nd ish is pretty much non-stop battle. But what fun! The Doc seems like a cool character and in this day and age where religious fundamentalism is running rife- I'm from a muslim background n you wouldn't believe how rabid some of em r these days, n America's lookin pretty crazy these days too- the choice of villain seems particularly apt if not very subtle- but hey that's the cool thing about comics! subtlety can be eschewed! everything can be unbelievably over-the-top!
Sooo anyway- what do the rest of y'all think?

I didn't look at this (Skroce is a good artist, tho), but I just think it's funny that ever since Grant Morrison announced 7 Soldiers, there are 2 other Frankstein comic projects out there. Actually, to be fair, Frankenstein's Mobster came out long before 7 Soldiers was announced and probably the W Bros. were working on this long before too. But it's just funny that there's this Frankenstein gestalt in the last year.

And don't forget last year's van helsing movie-no wait, on second thought... perhaps you should. But yeah lots of people workin on Frankenstein stories these days... they all seem to have different takes on the character though which is cool. I haven't read Frankenstein mobster tho- any good that one?
