Lucid Dreaming (again)

Sorry to bring this up again, but could somebody tell me roughly how long it takes to train yourself to do lucid dreaming? I've been wandering around with "lucid" written on the back of my hand (to remind me to ask myself if I'm awake or not) for about a week, and it's beginning to a) get on my nerves and b) get strange glances from strangers.
Cheers.

LOL! I can just see this big LUCID stamped on your hand, just like someone getting SANE stamped on their forehead wher they leave the mental institution.
What I did was to try to move the floor with my mind and when it didnt work i thought to myself "i must be awake"..I continued this for a few weeks before I was able to try to move the floor in my dreams...they moved just like a wave so i thought cool Im must be dreaming (i was)..and that was it..I was able to go through my dream with an awareness that it was a dream but without be able to interact conciously with my dream environment. Thats as far as I have gotten, its been about 2 months now and I realize im in a dream as soon as I start the dream in about 8/10 times. Now im trying to look at my hands in the dream. Its something I read in Castenada.

Cool - a couple of weeks I can probably manage. At the moment I'm going through a lot of sleep deprivation (28 hour days, etc.) due to crazy shifts in shifts at work (ha. oh, I just slay myself.), so asking myself if I'm aware or not every half an hour isn't leaving me feeling too well mentally balanced.

LIFE is the Dream, MAYA! your so-called 'dream state' is actually one of your few lucid moments...

I'm not sure you'll make of this (or what I do!) But I can make the floor move when I'm awake... or at least I think I'm awake...??...??!!!

What does this mean?

When I was a kid I would repeat the phrase "I am dreaming," over and over in my head until it would become automatic. I would still be saying it to myself in my dreams as they began.

Unfortunately, it can take a while to fall asleep that way (although I had a lucid dream the first time I tried it), so these days I'm trying something similar to kegboy's method. I try and move small objects with my mind during the day, with the hopes that I'll try the same thing in a dream and get a surprise.

Means you need to cut down on the ol' electric soup.

Just joshing with ya. How do you mean, "make the floor move?"
