The ones I know most about are the Tarot and the I-Ching.

What others can people suggest? Both traditional forms and adapted versions.

Clouds are fun to use but kinda hard.

Rain drops on windows are very good.
(Works fantastically well on the top deck of a double-decker bus on a long journey. You naturally zone out a bit and the images come flooding!)

Mediamancy. Again, good on a bus in a city. Space out, ask a question in your head and just see what words in Billboard Advertisments/Graffitti/Posters jump out at you.

I use pennies. They're easily found. Just look beneath your feet. And I ask a question with a yes or no answer and do the whole heads or tails thing.

A few times while taking high school chemistry tests I used a penny to divine the answer to the question. The questions were multiple choice A through D. Heads represented choices A and C, while Tails represented choices B and D. From what i remember it always worked.

After reading "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick two weeks ago, its been all about the I Ching. Four thousand year old Chinese wise men still writing themselves into reality - that's cool.

It would be fun to compile a new oracle based on the structure of the I Ching.

Numbers are good for divination, and each number has a meaning, some numbers have a tendency to keep cropping up.After someone pointed out to me the 23 enigma,I've been selectively attending to occurrences of this number, and I have discovered, after watching Kubrick's 'The Shining',and imprinting negative connotations of 37,(due to the Room 237),that 23 and 37 are my 'heads'and 'tails'.Its got to the point, that whenever I look at a clock to see what time is during the day,(I don't wear a watch),its either (I kid you not),23 minutes past the hour,or 23 minutes to the hour,(37 minutes past the hour). There are other meaningful combinations of numbers, some I pay attention to ,and some occur too rarely to be noticed in the context of a 'sign'.The numbers are never wrong, and occasionaly, especially while travelling, they warn me of oncoming danger or difficulties,as well as indicators of safety.I would never get on a plane without checking my seat number, flight number and departure gate number. If I found a conflict,I would stay at home.

Also,I just remembered something I used to say about time.'Its always nine o'clock',that is to say,we live in the 'Day of Nine Dogs',which is to mean,no matter what time we think it is,each day is part of a continuum of every moment in time playing itself in parrallel. These moments are made of every moment in time, and I don't believe this is an infinite set.

Assuming it's still in print, you could try "Using The Runes," by D. Jason Cooper. A good intro to runes as a divinatory tool, with chapters on ritual and some spiffing exercizes to get those magickal juices flowing.

Yep, you can use anything as a divinatory system. I know people who use search engines - they type in a question and then randomnly choose a web site to see what's there. It's as good a method as any.

Runes and Tarot are the ones I would use the most, if I go that way. Online runes and Tarot work quite well if you want a quick answer to a problem.

I have a friend who's talent I trust a great deal and she's the only one I get to do divinatory work for me (via Tarot). If it's a question about which I really want the answer I usually get someone else to do the reading for me.

Even though I suck at Magic Eye posters, I just try letting my vision go blurry around anything that doesn't seem like it has a recurring pattern. Sometimes I see things. And other times the walls just start moving.
