Hi Guys,

I've managed to get an extended stop-over in New York later this month. I was wondering what Barbelith had to say. Are there some hidded gems I should check out? Cool stuff to do that my buddies don't know about? Good hostel deals?

Thanks!

I've always wanted to see the Cloisters (I've heard they're ace), but I can't vouch for them... The MET is definitely great, as is walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.

I'm heading to NYC for St.Patrick's weekend, how about you?

I going this weekend. Working in Utah midweek so fitting in some tourist weekends in New York and San Francisco either side. Very excited. My first time.

I always plug The Dream House as a great thing to do in New York.

Lead the police force on a wild goosechase while you plunder the federal reserve.

The Cloisters are great, almost as much for the location on Manhattan as anything. Two of my sisters live near there in Washington Heights (which is cool in being hilly in Manhattan anyway), and it's a great place to visit. Some great medieval art in there. The Met is truly fantastic, and MOMA? Sweet jesus. Go see a broadway show, for chrissakes. If you don't have much money they have lotteries for 25 dollar tickets that are really not hard to get, especially this time of year. If you like to drink, just wander around until you find a good bar. Make sure and bring a scarf or something, the wind can be pretty wicked there this time of year. Sorry I don't have a list of the really cool places to go there, someone on the board from the city will have to do that.
Really there is not a shortage of things going on there, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Trust me. If you want to get a little fancier, you can also go to al di la in Park Slope. To freaking die for.
