Self Improvement Books and Magick

Seth and I have recently contributed (along with many others) on a thread about Self Help Books over in the 'lith books thread

As a result, I purchased Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz and a book by Charles F Haanel called 'the Master Keys System'

Both books basically cover similar ground in that they assert that you can change your self image via the use of affirmations and acting as if your desired change is already manifest, as long as you feel the change strongly and then trust your subconscious to direct you towards behaviours and actions that will bring about that change

The funny thing is that fate/Magick or whatever seems to be steering me towards these books as I came accross 'the Isiah Effect' by Gregg Braden by chance and he is re-iterating a lot of the same ideas in his book (IF I have speled his name wrong I apologise as the book is in my dads a few miles away at present)

I then came accross the name of a Willaim Walker Atkinson (a recomendation by Amazon.com) and read a couple of his books on the internet and ordered one via the Amazon website.

Has anybody any experience with any of these authors and if so, would you be willing to offer an opinion or any anecdotes of experiences or changes that you have had as a result?

I have started the affirmations but it is early days and nothing notable to report to date. I noted that another author mentioned is a guy called Joseph Murphy, who gets a good rating but some reviewers state he has plagarised Dr Maltz, in some cases pretty much verbatim

Of particular interest to me is the work of William Walker Atkinson as I can see similarities in his work with Charles F Haanel's. Does anybody know whether they were acquinted with each other? Atkinson is an advocate of the NEW THOUGHT/NEW SCIENCE movement and his work is very similar, though more conscious mind driven than that of Mr Haanel

If anybody has any info as to whether they followed similar credos or knew each other, I would be very interested and grateful if you could point me in the direction of source material where I could find out this info or any collaboration
