hello.

turned out nice again:

IT CAME FROM THE SEA
* * COMEBACK2005 * *

THE SUSSEX ARTS CLUB
--* SAT 05 FEB *--
* 10PM-2AM * £5/4 *

back with the same old all-new music policy. back with the ridiculous pretension to act like every night is an *event* ...and now installed in a bigger venue in the centre of town for yr convenience.

but if you'd rather hear it from people who aren't on the payroll, try this hyperbolic blah on for size:

"THE COOLEST NIGHT PLAYING THE COOLEST MUSIC BEFORE IT WAS EVEN COOL. DID WE MENTION IT WAS COOL?" – NME

"BRIGHTON'S MOST INNOVATIVE CLUB NIGHT" – THE INSIGHT

"ICFTS'S FUSION OF ART-HOUSE VISUALS AND TOP-CLASS MUSIC RAPIDLY WON ADMIRERS AMONGST BRIGHTON'S TRENDSETTERS AND FASHIONISTAS" – THE SOURCE

in fact, those latter suckaz are so enamoured that they're coming down to february's events to take pics and interview the brains of the operation, D.A.I.S.Y. the deejay peecee. so while she kicks back with a relaxing E.G.O. defrag, it'll be down to her human peripherals Nikon Driver and kicking_k to carry out her evil dancefloor masterplans to
the best of their soft-wired misshapen meatsack ability.

new for the oh-five from daft punk, lcd soundsystem, M.I.A., fischerspooner, roots manuva, lil jon, annie, bloc party, the rogers sisters, out hud, futureheads, pixeltan, diplo, death from above 1979 and lethal bizzle plus comeback specials like glass candy, soulwax, the faint, fabolous, le tigre, basement jaxx, ghost exits, whitey,
yeah yeah yeahs, timbaland etc etc.

as for visuals, inspired by our new arts club status (plus the >sniff< loss of our video projector), we've worked with local up-and-coming artists to create what will be a growing, ongoing exhibition in a nightclub. featured this time: juan mateos-garcia (20 jazz funk greats), 'cassette playa' fashion designer Carri, plan b magazine's hennie hayworth and david mcnamee, as well as Lo-Res veterans jamie lau (post-everything), toby amies (tobyamies.com), nelson evergreen (nelson-evergreen.com), jaime huxtable, nik warr, leigh anne clarke (chicks with decks), russell warrior (stop making friends), Nikon Driver and kicking_k... and introducing: hal watmough, owen dakin, and
sam williams (whose new free-zine plus performance night – skirmish - kicks off at the albert wed 02 feb, 9:30-11 (um. in the past, then. don't worry. i was there. it was really busy))

and know this: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE SUSSEX ARTS CLUB TO COME ALONG. YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL FEE ON THE DOOR. YOU WILL SIGN YR NAME, BECOME A TEMPORARY MEMBER FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY AND YOU WILL WALK IN, JUST THE SAME AS ANY OTHER CLUB.

Ok. GO.

that's the one. yup.

and, yeah, point taken (though i don't mang and i'm never stumped) - next time, i'll certainly pimp it with rather more warning. kind of slipped to the edge of my to-do list.

did anyone actually make it? we were sold out relatively early, know a lot of close friends cdn't get in, even...

You mean [gasp!] blank badges wouldn't be enough to get us in?

Nah, didn't come, what with the no warning thing, but I'm hoping to make one of the nights in the next few months,

Savage & I missed it too. As you will undoubtedly have noticed, as it just ain't a party without us.
We should have more money when we're not being evicted, etc. Hope it went well.

it went amaaazingly well.

we were one in/out by 11:15, the slides we'd commissioned from up-and-coming artists looked ace, friends staged (and filmed) a contemporary dance piece in the cloak room, green day were allegedly there, fresh from rocking brighton's pre-teens into angasms... we caned the smoke machine. it looked like heaven. pretty much everybody danced till the bitter end.

giddy.
